Given it seems to be rising in popularity I thought it was about time to start a dakka AOS28 conversions, fluff and progress thread to share the comulative efforts of our community in creating characterful, unique and dark warbands in the age of sigmar.

What is AoS28:

I am honored that Bruticus was keen to use the Hinterlands rules as the supported ruleset for the project (although you are free to use whatever rules you want). As AoS28 is about freedom in converting and modelling where theme takes precedent over all and thus rules should never be a hindrance, we together designed a series of guidelines on when to break or ignore the Hinterlands rules:

(And just in case you missed me plugging the Hinterlands rules all over the place *sorry about that!* you can download the most up-to-date version here: Hinterlands Rules)

And lastly, here is my first WIP. I can't wait to post an update for you:

As mentioned elsewhere, I'm basing my warband on Greywater Fastness from the Season of War.

Can't wait to see everyone else getting involved!

In a nutshell AoS28 is the AOS version of Inq28...
AoS28 is basically a fluff and converting hub for Dark, Gritty and generally more sombre tones in the Age of Sigmar universe. Converting unique characters, and warbands full of flavour that delve beyond the high fantasy of the setting and into the darkness that simmers beneath. Convert cool skirmish warbands, Write up stories and background, and share with like minded gamers. Its also a great way of looking beyond the big battles down to the more "every day" part of Sigmar. Whilst giant and glorious battles are being raged what of the guards selling off civilians to slavers just for coin. Or the rabbid and hungry lower classes who take up arms against nobles. The grime that litter the streets of Sigmars shining cities just beneath the false veneer of hope and perfection. Every model converted adds a new aspect, new story and new angle to the setting.

Aos28 uses bottles fantastic hinterlands ruleset to help play through with your unique warbands and skirmish in the Age of Sigmar!

Looking forward to what everyone is working on, tips, hints and general progress.

As a basis here's the start of my necromancer:

Splendid idea, Melcavuk! Was thinking about starting a dedicated AOS28 thread myself, but I decided against it as I don't have any AOS28 models to show yet!

Your necromancer looks great so far, I'm really digging the sinister colour scheme

War Kitten: Ezra can steal reality

What is AoS28? It is Inq28 is the answer? That doesn't explain anything to me. What is Inq28?

May you please give a proper explanation what AoS28 is suppose to be please? I would like to understand.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Auticus wrote: Or in summation: its ok to exploit shoddy points because those are rules and gamers exist to find rules loopholes (they are still "legal"), but if the same force can be composed without structure, it emotionally feels "wrong".

AOS28 is INQ28's Fantasy counterpart, hence the similar names.

Here's a summary from Bruticus' thread, who pretty much kickstarted this project in the first place:

 Bruticus wrote:

Introducing AoS28: Inq28 meets Age of Sigmar

Inq28 explores the lesser known aspects of the Warhammer 40,000 universe and has been a huge success, inspiring Blanchitsu articles, numerous blogs and countless incredible miniatures. Inq28 has become a term that describes not just a particular game but a whole approach to the hobby: an approach that puts creativity and imagination first.

AoS28 is an attempt to bring that same approach to the Nine Realms.

A Community project

You’ll need to make a warband - probably between 2 and 8 models - led by a hero. The warband can be anything you want to make but there is also a theme. For more info on the theme and for ideas and more information, please check out http://www.exprofundis.com/introducing-aos28-inq28-meets-age-sigmar/ or http://www.tga.community/aos28

Also, check the link's in the quote, they'll lead you to more information

Introducing: The Bard
Born a poorer boy in a small township, the bard grw up scrouging for scraps of the noble family who owned the farms and village that sprawled out around them. Most of his station knew too well the limitations that their poorer breeding had set upon their dreams, but the young bard was a dreamer, enamoured with the daughter of the nobles he would spend his nights singing in the gardens beneath her balcony, just to see her smile. Night after night he sang to her, whislt she leant so elegantly against the balcony rail and smiled down to him, and with each night his confidence grew until he called up to her, begging for her hand in marriage.
The young girl ofcourse had no intent on marrying him, and yet she was curious how far her admirer would go to win her hand, telling him that if she was to be his wife he must procure a ring worthy of her hand. Now the young boy toiled in the farms by day, the living he made barely enough to cover the scraps of food that sustained him, but he knew if he could save that money... just for a while he could get a ring and win his lady love. He began to cut back on food, day by day buying a little less, his already gaunt form becoming withdrawn and skeletal and yet... when on the brink of starvation he finally bought the ring he needed to win his lady loves hand.
That night he returned to her balcony, starved and shrunken but raising the ring aloft to her triumphantly, the moonlight glinting off of its golden form. Rather than the acceptance of his gesture the boy was greeted by the riotous laughter of the young noble woman and her servants, their scorn and ridicule echoing in his ears as he staggered, starved and half dead out into the wilderness.
Too long he had gone without food, he barely made it to the treeline before his frail form and broken heart simply gave way, perishing there... alone.
Many years on, rumours and whispers across the realm speak of a voice only the nobles can hear, of a bard of sweetest tone singing sweet songs in the gardens of their fine mansions. Of young ladies slipping from their chambers in the night to find their gentleman caller. They follow a voice entranced, sweet and soft beckoning them onwards, the gentle chiming of bells ringing out in the darkness.
They see a figure clad in finery, a brazier illuminating his form in the darkness, it is only in their final moments, when retreat has lojng fled as a viable option that his sneering broken skull leans into the light. The Bard has claimed many a victim, their broken skulls adorning the chest of fine gifts for his "Courting" of the nobles, in death far more than he could ever have dreamed in life.

Another part of my AoS28 projects currently miling around, I always wanted to work on the Blightking kit and the Goregrunta kit and so using the two of them in a warband seemed like a great opportunity. So along with some spares from projects long since past I've made up a Nurgle Herald for a new warband, made up of a pair of twins. One bloated and muscular but lacking in intellect, the other withered down to little more than nurgling form but possessing an intellect far beyond that of most mortal men. Together they serve the dark gods where as separately they would merely wither away and perish.

And the Carrion Choir so far:

So my AoS28 project is a Disciples of Tzeentch coven that succumbed to the madness of the Flesh Eater Courts. In their madness they believe they are still fighting for Tzeentch, but they're just insane cannibals, like the rest of the FEC.

I used some spare Silver Tower Kairic Acolytes with Ghoul heads and hands.

Its a work in progress, just dreamed it up when bored painting my Rotbringers. A bit more work is needed!

edit: photo fail!
edit2: These will probably end up being Characters in my upcoming FEC army!

Hey guys been working on some back story for my first ever warhead. Hoping to get a few friends into this as I love the overall feel and freedom it gives to create a back story for a small group of individuals. Will post some progress picks soon for the Lord of Blackwater manor and his retinue.

Awesome stuff here guys as well as over at the grand alliance.
