I came here planning on saying that I was pretty happy with how this turned out but then I checked out some of the other threads on here and now I just feel bad
This is the first finished model of my EC army and I'd like some critiques before I go ahead and paint the rest.
I reckon it looks nice for a tabletop model but I do feel it looks somewhat messy. I may still be relying on washes too much. The gun is from Spellcrow and I made the shoulder pad with some green stuff (it's supposed to look like a bunch of screaming faces but it didn't really turn out that way). I feel like I should paint something onto the right shoulder pad but I don't trust myself enough to freehand it.

Looks great to me. If you highlight all the edges it will really pop on th tabletop, think that's all you need to do to be very satisfied with it.

I thought I had highlighted all the edges.
Are you saying you can't see the highlights or that you're seeing them but I've missed some edges that could use highlights?

I don't know how it'd look from a distance irl, to be honest.
What I can say is the highlights on the gun are sloppy and need work, it looks like it whittled out of a steel girder.

It looks good man!
Don't be too harsh on yourself.
The highlights could be a bit starker, I like the nice little gradient you have going, but a even brighter pink would really make it pop.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that.
I did drybrush the gun so that might have caused this sloppiness, I'll try highlighting it by hand like the rest of the model next time, hopefully that will fix it.

The highlights make this EC look a lot like having a Candy apple coat which absolutely fits the EC - to be honest, i love this so much! EC are fabolous and this sheme is exactly that.

Personally, I am more of a fan of a lighter shade of pink (emperor's children pink to be specific ) but if that colour works for you then it looks fine. It isn't perfect but by the time you've done a couple more marines in the same style I'm sure they'll look imaculate.

Well, the gun is bare metal, the highlights are metal, and since you drybrushed it it makes the steel look shaved, like someone took a big piece of steel and sculpted that gun out of it, that's just how the highlights look to me.

Make the highlights starker... for tabletop standard think less about how good it looks up close and more from how good it looks from a metre or two... make it pop
