Hi everybody,
Many people here don't know me personally and that's okay. I use painting as a stress reliever and therapy.
it been a long while since my last painting blog. I took a break for a while and now i'm back.
30k sparked my interest and with that I began the process of whittling down my options for an army to field.
I picked up a few boxes of BoC and put in a rather large order on Forge World and decided it was time to get back behind the brush.
After sitting on it for a while and reading a lot of book and fluff on the Pre-Heresy legions I found one that in many ways reflect me and my personality.
How and why they reflect me is not easy to explain nor do i really feel the need to explain but in short I decided to go with the Alpha Legion.
The goal with this project is to produce a fluffy army that I enjoy looking at as well as painting.
I started 3 weeks ago with a single Legion Tac squad, a Contemptor, and 5 Terminators. I put them together, base coated and in my 3rd week i have come close to getting the finished.

Base coat on the Contemptor and Tac squad


Then i built and based the Terminators!


Trim work then began on the Contemptor and a few others.


I did the base early because i didnt want to mess up the armor. This effort later turns into great irony.
Here i have also completed a majority of the trim work in metalics for the Contemptor. You will notice that the Contemptor has become the first model to be tackled.
I have also worked to make the barrels look discolored from use.


After much more clean up and work trimming out the model I moved to weathering.


The Sgt was the next up for proof of concept and i got him knocked out rather quickly!


Shortly there after I finished up the rest of the squad. Still need to finish the eyes.


And that catches you all up to the current day. I am working on them steadily and expect to start picking up speed as I feel this is a good scheme. The only thing is that the model are actually two toned but my camera is unable to pick that up in stills.

Looking good so far! Where the the AL symbols that you put on the dreads come from.

Can I suggest you put some smaller pics in the main body of the plog and maybe leave a link for those who want the super detailed pics. The size of the images is making viewing this on a mobile platform totally unwieldy!

Painting is damn good therapy isn't it?

It looks great. And as soon as I get some more free time. I'll pick up the brush again, and finish off my Death Guard army.

This week I got my FW order in and my oh my was it wonderful!
I so far have built out the Leviathan and one of my SIcarians.
Tonight I was able to build and mag out the Sicarian as well!
I have tried to down size them a bit. lmk if it helped.

A Levithan!

I want to get one. But I am unsure if it's something Space Wolves *My eventual 30k* Project will be. I had half a mind to convert one into a Decimator since I own Imperial Armor 13, but only...A handful of kits. I actually also made some good rapiers from Guard heavy weapons, and the treads from those tank-men in the Cult Mechanicus set.

Looking good so far, keep it going.

That sounds like a cool kit bash! Cant wait to see it.
he Leviathan is great! That was my first time building one so I didnt go crazy on pose. My next two will be much more dynamic. This one is posed more to be shooting the large cannons rather than running around so the pose reflects that.

Here is what I managed to get done this evening.
Finished up the Second Sicarian as well as mags in the weapons.
Also built 2 of my 5 weapon options for the Leviathan.

Great work so far! I got my shoulder pads from Popgoesthemonkey too for my Angels of Vengeance and Vigilance.

How are you achieving your blue green effect? It looks fantastic

Thank you Azalle, I spent a lot of time deciding on how to best get the correct color. In the end I went with Pactra RC Car Body Paints. I used two different ones. I used a Bright silver Tamiya spray over black as the base coat. From there I used RC282 Pactra Fluorescent Blue as the first coat over the silver. WHILE STILL WET I went in a selectively hit the upper areas of the armor as well as just some random places with (i dont know the paint number) Pactra Fluorescent Green. That is the basic idea behind the base coat. Do note that Pactra is no longer a company so if you try to find these paints there is a high probability that you wont find them. SO you may have to experiment with some other brands to color match. Any bright neon translucent body paints should work but every brand will vary in color formulation.

Here is my progress report for the end of the week. The picture says it all but lets just say I have been very busy scrubbing and gluing resin together.

Always like to see FW goodies. Sad we didnt get a pic of you in the tub scrubbing away.

You can probably skip spoilering pics moving forward. I don't think anyone is going to complain about a few pics in each update.
