First Contact

It is impossible to know for certain when Mankind's first contact with the daemonic first took place, since - if Chaoticians are correct - the energy that creates such monstrous beasts has existed for as long as humans, if not before. The Warp, sometimes known as the Sea of Souls, is a churning mass of raw potential energy, which humans with psychic talent can tap to use sorcerous powers. Since the dawn of time, there have been those who could shape that power to their own ends, and their legacy has been recorded in dark myth since those times.

The volcanic caverns of Hnang-Mei, beneath the vast mountains of a region of Terra whose name has long been forgotten, bore witness to what may have been the first recorded instances of daemonic intrusion. Before their destruction during the Great Betrayer's assault on Holy Terra ten thousand years ago, the murals and daubings on the cave walls depicted primitive humans and crude, but unmistakable, images all too familiar to the Daemonhunters of the Ordo Malleus.

So it looks like it was possibly long before the Age of Strife

I think the Emperors aim with the Imperial Truth was to put pay to the notion of Ghosts and Daemons and with the lack of belief the Daemons and the like found it harder to manifest.

Yup. Long before the big E was born the Shamans and Wise Men of ancient Terra were plagued by daemons. The reason they did their mass suicide to make the Emps was to help put a stop to it.

I wonder, what about the physical manifestation of daemons? when did humans first see that? probably only during the HH.

If I remember right it was way before the HH when they were messing with warp travel at first as that led to the appearance of psykers and possession.

Nah I'd say Age of Strife. That's when humans at large generally started developing psykers, an event that was probably accompanied by daemons exploding from their heads.

It's not called the Age of Strife for nothing...

Rampant physical manifestations of Daemons across humanity would've began sometime near the end of the golden age as the rate of human psyker began a very noticeable climb. While I'm sure mankind has encountered Daemons long before due to the occasional psyker I'd say their true threat to humanity parallel humanities growth into a psychic race.
