Hey guys, a question from a guy who has been out of the loop of new 40k releases for awhile. Thinking about a small Thousand Sons force for Kill Team/One Page 40k skirmish, and I was wondering if the Aspiring champion in the box is optional? I would rather use the Ahriman model from Prospero as a sorceror instead as he's an awesome model, and have 10 "standard" Thousand Sons from the squad box.

I'm assuming it's optional, but wanted to be sure.

"By this point I'm convinced 100% that every single race in the 40k universe have somehow tapped into the ork ability to just have their tech work because they think it should."

"One model can be armed with a soulreaper cannon, one can carry an Icon of Flame, and one can be assembled as an Aspiring Sorcerer, who is armed with a force stave and either an Inferno bolt pistol or warpflame pistol."

Yeah, it's all optional. Hope that helps!

Ok, thanks Just wondered as Aspiring Champions/Sorcerors have always been so closely linked to leading Rubric squads, and I was having a dumb moment. In my area, I'm not likely to ever see the models a box of Thousand Sons makes 'in the flesh' unless they are mine.

I don't see why you couldn't make them all 'standard' as you say. It's like with Tactical Marines too, you could just make them all bolter dudes.

Yeah, that was the plan. They'd make a great skirmish chaos force to oppose my ancient old 13th Company Space Wolves. I was going to buy the Prospero Ahriman and the bitz for a second Soulreaper cannon to split the box into what would effectively be 2 combat squads.

Just assembled a box of them. The sorcerer is definitely optional.

I could be wrong but in believe its one soulreaper per 10 dudes

Yeah, but I'll probably be using them for One Page Kill Team, so things are more relaxed, and with that ruleset they'll likely never actually get used as soulreapers, but instead just awesome looking heavy bolters or autocannons. I'll most likely never see a game of modern 40k with them, so I'm not worried, lol.

Yes, It is optional and you should feel ashamed for playing them in kill team.

Unless you are being sarcastic, you may be thinking something different than I am, if they are somehow unbalanced in 40k Kill Team. One Page Kill Team/One Page 40K is an indie rules-lite ruleset, and used within those rules they are essentially going to be standard (but more ornate) Chaos Marines, possibly with Tzaangors as cultists (to help reinforce the Tzeench theme) and likely some Dark Vengeance Chosen as, well, Chosen. Maybe a Heresy Contemptor as a Helbrute as well (think more like the old days of Chaos Dreadnoughts, as the Biomech feel of the modern Helbrutes doesn't fit Thousand Sons and their Rubric to me).
