I play against 30K legion armies a bunch. These armies protect themselves from Infiltrators using Augury Scanners, which don't let you Infiltrate within 18" of them. I don't know if 40K Space Marines have this option or not.

If you have GSC units with the Infiltrate rule, but they deploy using Cult Ambush, would you still need to deploy outside of 18" of a model with an Augury Scanner?

I.E. would augury scanners be a hard counter against the Cult Ambush table?

Pretty sure that is correct.

But and deepstrike ambush is not protected, So just deploy out and return to the shadows =D

but if they deep strike in a unit with an augury scanner gets to shoot at them as if they had the interceptor rule.

Nothing in the GSC codex can Deep Strike anyways.

I guess this problem would only occur on Round 1 when you're Infiltrating using the Cult Ambush rule. On Round 2+, you'd no longer be infiltrating, but instead arriving from Reserve or Ongoing Reserve.

Cult Ambush...it's a badly written rule.

This. Even the FAQ doesn't know what to make of it.

It's not quite Infilitrating.
It's not quite Deep Striking.
Hell, it's not quite Outflanking.

But rather than rule it as its own seperate thing with relevant immunities GW instead chose to pick and mix what does and does not affect them.

Common Sense is apparently a unit upgrade that GW don't want to pay points for.

Now only a CSM player.

Yeah, I just got even more confused by the FAQs.

They should have just said that Cult Ambush is a rule that is distinct from Infiltrate, Outflank, Ongoing Reserves etc. instead of making it more complicated by suggesting that sometimes it acts like this, and sometimes it acts like that.
