Eugen (Wargame, RUSE, Act of Aggression, and some older titles) has announced that it's releasing a new World War 2 RTS entitled Steel Division: Normandy '44. The announcement blog post is here -

The official website is here -

For obvious reasons, there's not a lot of information available about the game. One of the things we do know is that there's supposed to be an absolutely huge number of units. This suggests to me that the game will be similar to Wargame, as opposed to the more recent (and unsuccessful) Act of Aggression. Paradox is also involved. It looks like they're going to be the publisher.

Unfortunate. And Paradox is producing, too, yuck. Hopefully since they're only publishing that means Eugen will be able to give the game a UI that isn't gak unlike 90% of Paradox games.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

This game won't be using the Clausewitz engine and it isn't being developed by Paradox so....

I also don't mind the UI in paradox games.

I have never really gotten on with any of the Eugen games though. I want to like the Wargame series but I just bounce off them.

The official site mentions that they're using Eugen's engine. So that's a point in its favor.

We'll see, though.
