Got a tournament coming up intended for newbies (of which I am one), with more experienced players allowed (which does scare me to be completely honest) at 1250 points. This will be the first tournament I've gone to and was wondering how this list looked. Ya, I know I'm using nobz, but they come in the start collecting box and I'm not at the point where I own more models than I can fit in an army so I might as well use what I got.
Since this is a relatively low point bracket would it be worth it to instead use the deff dread I have or nah?

first suggestion would be to knock one of those boyz squads to 19 and have the warboss in there. bonus if you drop it to 18, give him mega armor and equip with the lucky stick.

I would also find a way to give at least the nobz eavy armor.

a deff dread might also work here but you would be swapping him for something kinda core. if the tournament has objectives I would take 3 boys squads one with the boss, the other 2 to hold objectives, note if you happen to have 20 gretchin sub them in for this.

10000 points 7000
6000
5000

I noticed that as well actually. I always run them with 'eavy armor so I must have forgotten. I can swap out the kannon and two rokkit launchas to give them their delicious 4+.

Overall, honestly, a fine beginner list.

Thoughts:

Where is the warboss going? I ask because he and all your other squads have bosspoles, and you don't need 2 in one group.

I'd second the recommendation to get the nobz 'eavy armor.

I also highly recommend reinforced rams on the trukks. Best 5 points you can spend in the codex.

I'm not the world's biggest fan of shoota or 'eavy armor boyz. They're not awful, but I generally find them not worth the points.

If your heart is set on them, I'd recommend a trukk for them too. your whole army is mechanized, so they'll be left behind.

Like G00fy said, if you're looking for objective holders, grots do that great. And hell, like 3 shoota 'eavy armor boyz is a squad of grots, roundabout. Cut the squad from 20 to 12, that's about a trukk and 2x grot squads.

I don't recommend loading up on weapons on wagons. The reason is that with orks, vehicles will rarely shoot, you want to spend most of your time moving and flatting out.

And even when you do shoot, it's not too impressive. If you move at all, you can only shoot one weapon at full BS (not a big deal for orks).

Worst yet, battlewagons don't last too long, in my experience. They usually do well to live long enough to offload their cargo.

I don't recommend the mek with the small loota group. Having a mek character around to help with mob rule tests is nice in larger squads, however, dealing D6 str 4 hits to your small unit, which has already lost at least 2 to force a morale test, is likely to kill the survivors.

Also, what program are you using that has the unit pictures next to the tables? I've never seen that before. I honestly think that battlescribe is a little more concise, but it's a neat way to present the army list.

1.It crossed my mind having two bosspoles in a unit, but I guess I can remove his or the boss nob's for a ram.

2.Alas, I have but two trukks. The 'eavy armor is so they have a better chance of surviving the footslogging and the shootas so they don't have to be all the way there to do their job.

3.I'm already looking to have only two rokkit launchas on the wagon.

4.Unfortunately the loota box comes with four lootas and a mek, not five lootas.

It's a really nice list builder if you're on your computer. https://webapplications-webroster.rhcloud.com/rc/web/#!/rosterCreator#%2FrosterCreator

Nice suggestions you got there. Here are some additional ones:

- I would put rokkits instead of big shootas for the trukks. If the tournament is WYSIWYG, you can easily cut off the barrel and glue a rokkit there (from boyz rokkit launcha, nobz kombi-rokkit, meganobz kit, etc.). I'm guessing it's the same for the battlewagon?;

- For the 5th loota, you can use a big shoota boy, or convert the burna to a deffgun with added barrels;

- I would remove 1-2 big choppas from the nob squad;

- Give your slugga boyz nob a slugga if he's keeping his choppa (so he can get +1 attacks in close combat);

- If you find yourself 3 pts short, don't hesitate to ditch the warboss' twin-linked shoota;

- The painboy goes where? I've tried putting one in 'ard shoota boyz once, they can take a beating put are really expensive! Still could be good.

Nice list overall, have fun!
