Hey all. I'm a new poster to Dakka Dakka. Have been table top gaming since I was 11, playing anything from Warhammer 40k to heroclix.

Recently decided to take the plunge into Horus Heresy after reading the amazing novels for it. I've got my first event in October and it's 2500.

I've got a list ready to roll and wandered what you all thought of it, so here it is -

Kharn the Bloody - Warlord

3 x 10 Tactical Marines, Chain Axe & Bolt pistol, fist on sergeant in rhinos /w Dozerblades

2 x Deredo Dreadnoughts, Anvilius Autocannons & Ailos Missile launchers

1 x 7 Red butchers, 2 power axes, 2 chainfists on devoured
Dedicated transport - Spartan, Dozerblade, Flare sheild, armored ceramite

1 x Super heavy falchion, armored ceramite, hunter killer missile, space marine legion crew.

Thoughts?

Looks solid, not too much to critique. I mean, Rhinos can be tricky to pull off assaults with, but they'll get you where you need to be.

You could shave a few Butchers off the squad (7 Butchers + Kharn seems like you'll overkill basically anything) to try and fit a Rapier or two, but you have a Falchion for long range anyways.

The Berserker Assault ROW does not allow Artillery, or immobile units sadly.

I agree I could probably drop 2 butchers and just have Axes on the devoured for 110 points spare but I can't find a meaningful way to spend it.

The RoW also doesn't allow me any more tanks or flyers, then I have infantry units so If I was to drop a my falchion in place of say a venator, If I wanted to add a flyer or another tannk I would also have to add another infantry unit and I can't think of any meaningful way to do that.

Marvel Crisis Protocol - Avengers, Brotherhood of Mutants & Cabal.
Middle Earth Strategy Battle game - Rivendell & The Easterlings.
The Ninth Age - Beast Herds & Highborn Elves.
Warhammer 40k  - Tyranids.

How about good old surlak? 4+ fnp should make the butchers even more survivable.

Actually, unless there's an update that I'm unaware of, the only thing not allowed is a fortification. Vehicles (tanks and fliers) and consuls are limited (librarians not allowed at all) and you need an extra troops choice but that's it.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."
