Hello all

Some days ago i make a thread asking for help with my friends group of 40k and i really appreciate your post on it. Thanks to that I talked with my friends about my army (was worrying about if my Space Wolves could be redundant with other armies). They say “well, your marines are more like space vikings and you have wolves, this other army is more like a space human army so we see no problem with having both, choose the one you like” so I started asking myself what army I like.

I’m a big fan of anime mechs so Tau looked appealing, I like vikings so Space Wolves looked appealing too, both fluff wise were cool to me. I couldn’t choose between them (one of my friends gave me the idea of space wolves with an imperial knight for my mech-like ideas but i think it may be too OP for our friendly group, maybe I’m wrong).

Looking for ideas I started remembering what WHFB/AoS armies I liked and It end up being Bretonnia (love the arturic and medieval knights themes and the idea of heroic charges) and StormCast (I like big swords, big armors and dragons so...)

I’m very tempted with the idea of Space Wolves with and allied Knight imo

What army do you think I should choose?

Could the Thunderwolf from the SW emulate those heroic charges from Bretonnia or maybe there is a better army for an arturic fan on 40k?

Maybe there is a better army for my tastes? I like the looks of anything in 40k except DE and Chaos.

NOT Imperial Guard. At least, for the moment. 8th edition is rumoured to be dropping this Summer. If you're concerned about the competitive aspect, then I'd hold on to see what changes.

If you're more interested in playing with the models you like, then it would be based on your enjoyment of the models / fluff behind them.

In any case, Space Wolves gives you more variety in terms of what you can play them as. For example, I like the Blood Angels models, but their rules are gak right now. So I play them as Vanilla Marines instead. You could do the same with your Wolves, but that's up to you, of course. Tau would not really have that option.

I'd personally go for Tau, as Marines feel kind of samey to me, no matter what colour you paint them. Even Chaos marines start to feel like more of the same, after a handful of games.

Krieg! What a hole...

You could run alied SW with the Krieg Death Rider CAD. The Kriegers you can convert to make them look more Arthurian, while the SW are the big sword/ armor guys. This gives you an almost completely mounted army that should play roughly like the Beers.

If you end up going space wolves with a knight, for a bit ore money someone makes a kit to build a SW knight.

Expensive but awesome.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Yeah, I'm waiting for 8th to drop and finally choose but I would like to start buying some minis to practice with paints. I'm still between Tau and Wolves for my first army but all depends on 8th really, I love mech but the concept of mech only shooting keeps me a little out (I should not expect a Gundam on 40k but I'm a big anime fan sorry)

Well, i wanted to have a second army and 99% sure that the second army its gonna be Astra Militarum, so those riders are coming home, not for my first army but they are coming, thanks for the idea.
