Since they are Space Marines and all Space Marines are moving to 32mm bases, can I base my brand new Grey Knights on 32mm bases rather than on the 25mm bases they came with?

Thanks

Not only can you, but (to me anyways) you should.

If only for aesthetic purposes, 32mm bases just look better on power armor.

Heck! I've been putting anything with a 3+ on a 32 if it didn't come with it. Pheonix Lords look balla on a 32 versus their 25!

Agreed. So many models look great on the 32mm.
Marines, Necron infantry, Eldar characters, etc

However, GW has recently (re)released a few kits on 32mm that should stay on 25mm. Namely Daemon Infantry models: Bloodletters, Pink Horrors, Plaguebearers. These are horde-like units and most are pretty squishy. They looked fine on 25mm and considering their non-elite status, I think they should stay on 25mm.

Imagine Orks on 32mm bases. Sure they'll look good individually, but when you have 20 per unit that small difference on each base adds up to a huge foot print.
I believe that Orks, Nids and Daemon infantry should remain on 25mm, with the 32mm only being used for Jump units in these armies.

Shadow War: Armageddon has them on 25mm, so I think they will stay that way. It also highlights the added bulkiness of power armour when a Marine and a Scout are next to each other.

good. I was hoping they would stay small.

are there resources for buying the 32mm bases plain ? I would like to grab about 60 cheap plain ones to base myself is GW the best source ?

You can find other ones on Amazon as well, including GW ones. You can decide which ones you like best.

I'd ask in the swap shop. I know I have about a hundred spare after using the sector imperialis bases on my iron warriors, someone on your side of the pond has no doubt done similar.

32mm works great for marines as they fit on base for once...

The 25mm is ideal for scouts. Guard. Base orks and such.

Jump units need 32mm... Too top heavy.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

One way to go is to just get 10 or 15 blank 32mm bases, and embelish them with sand, a few pieces of (unused) cat litter, and maybe a model skull or two. make them scenic bases.
Then use silicone rubber to make a mould of the scenic bases you just created, and use polyurethane resin to cast copies of your creations. I did.
Now, if you only seek to change the bases on a small Space Marine force, this might not be very cost effective, but I added them to my Dark Angels, my Necrons, my basic Space Marines, and my Chaos Space Marines. Right now I am painting 32mm bases to put under my Sisters of Battle as well (the power armoured ladies at least).

One other advantage to this I noticed is, that cast resin bases are, of course, solid. This makes them slightly weightier than the 'open' regular bases, which helps out jump infantry even more.
