Pretty much everything about Chaos is metal. Honestly can anyone look at a Chaos marine and not say that it doesn't belong on a album cover. Anyway the question I wanna ask people is which of the Chaos SM legion is the most metal?

For me I think the Iron Warriors take the cake for their brutal personality, appearance, and tatics.

Quite literally metal, well that's got to be Iron Warriors

however, in terms of Metal Album cover imagery, its got to be Word Bearers with the overtly religious worship of chaos; plus their use of possessed with the Gal Vorbak

I feel like this has a really easy answer that involves one of their names and and what that name is and it's too easy so i'm not going to do that i'm going to say... the Death Guard.

Rotting corpses are pretty metal, right?

realism is a lie

I don't understand the context of this discussion. Elaborate, please.

He means which csm legion looks more like it belongs on an album cover for a metal band. Other than that there isn't much context.
My pick would have to be word bearers because they remind me of slipknot

That would depend on the type of Metal...

Obviously.

Murder-core
Thrash
Norwegian Death Metal
Psychobilly
Nu Metal
Hard Core
Death Metal
Industrial Thrash
Zombie metal
Apocalypse Metal

Nah, modern noise marines use dup step since their guitars turned into guns.

It had to be Word Bearers, World Eaters or Night Lords although Night Lords sounds like an Emo punk band more than a Metal band.

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.

Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

Strong arguments can be made for most legions. Different ones represent different aspects of metal. I’d break them up into tiers:

Most Metal:
Word Bearers
World Eaters
Emperor’s Children

Still pretty Metal:
Iron Warriors
Night Lords

Metal, but not as hard core as the others:
Death Guard
Black Legion
Thousand Sons
Alpha Legion

But as I break them up, I’m still unsure if I should bump any of them up a tier. Can’t think of any to bump down.

At the end of the day, they are all a pretty heavy crew!

(But if I have to cast a vote, it’s going to be for the guys with all the noise marines. They will rock you.

I would put Death Guard, World Eaters, Iron Warriors and Night Lords as the most metal and the rest below them.

Have you read what abaddon does to those who fail him? I like these two examples from the wiki:
"When the World Eaters that had promised their aid to Abaddon left his armies to join the fighting upon Skalathrax, the Warmaster abandoned his plans, tracked the Berzerkers down and severed their limbs before cauterising their wounds with a Flamer, leaving them as little more than screaming stumps unworthy of a place at the Blood God's table. "
And:
"When a wilderness shrine upon Plutol refused to bow to his authority, Abaddon killed every other human upon the planet before personally visiting the shrine and forcing the priests who maintained it to eat the bodies of those they had once prayed for."

The Legion as a whole might not be the most metal, but he certainly strives to make up for it lol.

Iron Warriors are literally metal, but the 2nd Ed Emperor's Children were probably the most metal. The current Noise Marines seem to have a dubstep look about them.

Depends what kinda of metal. World Eaters would likely be some straight up deathmetal while Death Guard I can see doing lots of pigs squeals. Maybe something like sludge metal even. Word Bearers would be black metal without a doubt and Thousand Sons is probably the "lightest" doing progressive Death core or somethig. Overall I think World Eaters wreck gak

Iron Warriors without question! I would imagine them fitting to bludgeoning industrial metal or Meshuggah particularly well as they lay grueling siege to some planet. And, of course, the name!

The Night Lords would almost certainly be advocates of black metal - the most evil kind, of course!

World Eaters would certainly be followers of some serious death metal, perhaps deathcore, certainly Cannibal Corpse. They even have their own inspired song! (By Bolt Thrower.)

So, I would say that it would be a toss-up between Iron Warriors and World Eaters

EC like their Glam Rock, not metal.

Poor ignorant guardsmen, it be but one of many of the great miracles of the Emperor! The Emperor is magic, like Harry Potter, but more magic! A most real and true SPACE WIZARD! And for the last time... I'm not a space plumber.

Now that I think about it, Death Guard could be fans of Cannibal Corpse as much as World Eaters, if not more! This is more challenging than it first seems!

Iron is a metal. Therefore the Iron Warriors, who are iron within, iron without, obviously are the most metal.

Black Legion, because A: primary color is black. And B: They can get all the marks of Chaos, so they can sling death metal, black metal, nu-metal (eew), or whatever as the strategic situation requires.

Anyone who knows anything should recognise Iron Warriors as Industrial, not metal.

My first reaction was Emperor's Children because of, well, everything about them. Except the Word Bearers are pretty much on the nose... In fact, I think they're too on the nose.

Which is why, for me, Emperor's Children gets the vote.

Also I knew Iron Warriors would win for being literal.
