Now, this isn't a topic on whether there should be a Warhammer 40K tv show (I'm okay on whether we get on or not) But it's about which Chapter has the potential to star in their own series or be a main force in an ongoing story. One Potential candidate is the Salamanders, After all, they are a well-liked chapter among the fans, plus being one of the most unique and likable chapters can be popular with newcomers. Other possible candidates are the Blood Angels and Soul Drinkers since many of their stories could be awesome in anime forms (especially the battle parts). I would also see a story with the Black Templars in it. Well, those are just some of my thoughts on what would be good candidates for main Space Marine chapters. What Chapter would you like to see or think they would do well in a TV series or Anthology film?

I think you only need look as far as the one vague film they've already released.

Most likely a new chapter made specifically for the TV show so as to not mess with established canon. That's what DoW ended up doing and now we have one of the most iconic cleptomaniacs since Link. If an existing chapter is used, then they either have to set it in an alternate continuity or we'd either get a foregone conclusion, no characters in high enough positions can appear, or it's an alternate continuity (this is what Space Marine did). Say they use Ultramarines. We can't really have Cato Sicarus in the show because it'd be pretty obvious he's going to survive any encounter he's in. Or Cassius (and definitely not him fighting the Tyranids). They can appear in minor roles but nothing ever huge, so we're left with a bunch of characters created just for the show. And if they only exist in the show, might as well just make them a new chapter to avoid all the above problems.

If I had to choose though, it'd have to be the Black Templars. They are a fleet-based chapter so they could be having adventures on different worlds without having to justify them in the plot. Given their crusading nature, there also doesn't need to be much continuity between adventures, which is a good way to go about TV shows. I personally hate continuity-heavy TV shows because if you miss one, you might as well stop watching until a DVD box set comes out. That and because of the nature of being continuity heavy they also always end episodes without much satisfaction since the overall plot won't be solved until the end of the arc/season finale.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

I voted other and here's why. Make it about the Astral Knights and the world engine. I read the book and enjoyed it, it's a big one off story and for anyone who's read it knows the outcome. You can have the film shift from different perspectives and the different locations each unit of astral Knights go to, plus the necrons if done well could probably be made to look menacing, cold, and calculating. It's not just non stop action because you have instances where the Knights are falling back and organizing ambushes.

Inquisition > Space Marines. Using the Inquisition allows for a deeper plot that doesn't rely on Bolter porn.

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

if they ever did a 40k TV show it would have to be

Guant's Ghost

End of story.. Other than being awesome.. it would be the most relatable to a wider audience..

A Spacemarine TV show would just be boring IMO

Yup, an Inquisition story would be much better fodder for a series, and would allow for a vast range of Marine or Guard units in support roles.

I voted other because I missed Deathwatch when I read the list.

Deathwatch could be something like the Avengers - Superhero team up.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

I know Ultra is going to end up with this. But I really think Deathwatch makes better sense. Deathwatch in itself is every army along with carrying other flavors from around the rule of man. It gives you a lot more flexibility from a writing stand point, character traits and having them bring in different ideas or issues from their chapter. Sure you could make it on one chapter but that would become pretty boring fast when you could mix it up with Deathwatch giving you a broader brush to write with. It also very inclusive with many chapters pleasing a wider audience.
