Hey everyone,
I've recently started a SW and love the idea of a mounted Iron Priest but i do not posses the ability to do the models justice and convert one.
I bought an Iron Priest and a single thunderwolf model complete with saddle and all, how do you feel about both models being on the same base but the IP not actually riding the wolf?
Would you let it count as him being mounted?
Thanks in advance?

So is the concern that you might be accused of modelling for advantage?

It would be silly to have a problem with that. They priest has simply hopped off his mount momentarily to survey the field. The character you want is legal and you have all the pieces. You're not even trying to use a proxy or something. Not sure why there would be an issue.
If another player has an issue with the fact that he is not mounted I suggest the following -
Any figure of his that is not actively firing is not allowed to shoot. Any figure in a standing or kneeling (not moving pose) cannot move for the entire game.
Another option is to just purchase one of these and put it on a regular TWC model

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity lasts forever.
Considering also your duty as a warrior you should not waver. Because there is nothing more auspicious for a warrior than a righteous war.

For the record - I was not stating that it's an example of modelling for advantage. Just can't think of any other reason why this would be a problem.

This made me laugh a lot, thanks for the reply. Its only because i'm really new to warhammer as a whole and my brother who has been playing it for a while just said some people might have an issue. That "doc-oc" looking backpack looks great! Automatically Appended Next Post: Manchu wrote:For the record - I was not stating that it's an example of modelling for advantage. To quoteth (well, paraphrasing) someone from another thread with a similar question.
If someone has an issue with this, then they would probably have a lot more to disagree with you about your army.
I'm sure someone will chime in and start giving you a bazillion reasons as to why not. Just remember to count how many of those people show up and how many of us have no problem, and you'll get a general idea of how accepting it will be (i.e: only the crazy people will deny you).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do. |

If there is any borderline situation for determining LOS, you can just wap the Iron Priest with any other thundercheesewolf model and use that as a reference.

If they have a problem with the model, tell them the Iron Priest had to stop and take a pee. If you really feel up to it, model a little yellow puddle on the base.
Bonus points if, right after you give him that answer you play Frank Zappa's "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow"

Lots of people do this where I play. Not just for iron priests, but things like far-seers or captains. You model the base of the flier to include a slot for a 25mm base and you don't have to make 2 models for the same character, one mounted and one dismounted.
