I like doing random themed lists. My club tends to avoid unbound so I can't just do assault cannon razerbacks / 1850.

I want to avoid being that guy and bringing a gladius.

open to better ways to build it, but basically here is what I have come up with (open to changes or complete replacement)

1850 double cad (2 identical cads listed below)

chapter tactics iron hands

SM HQ command tank squad - 400

2x tac squad w/ razorback w/ assault cannons 290

3x razorback w/ assault cannons 225

Anybody have tips to run this or suggestions to do better.

The Armoured task force formation allows up to 15 predators/Whirlwinds or Vindicators.

"The Hammer of Caliban" formation from the Dark Angels codex is pretty nice (and all tanks)!

If you're looking for max tanks, I think the "proper" way to do it would be to take the Anvil Strike Force macro-Formation out of the Angels of Death book. The Core Formation from there is either the Armored Task Force, or the Land Raider Spearhead.

Just taking the Armored Task Force itself could get you a single Techmarine and 15 tanks. Considering the basic Predator is only 75 points, you could load up on them if you were really aiming for "most tanks".

Hammer of caliban looks interesting but appears the preds are a squadron might be overkill focusing all of the shots at the same target if I am reading that right.

the anvil looks nice command pred plus 5 preds with killshot but again vehicle squad if I am reading it right. plus a tac squad with a assault cannon razorback for 660

Alternatively, if the normal Armored Taskforce isn't your thing, there's the Lucifer Armored Taskforce. You have to take a Land Raider instead of having Vindicator or whirlwind options, but you can also throw in Baal Preds. And everything gets to be Fast Vehicles for free (and get a scout move).

Oh, yeah. the LATF is awesome
Free overcharged engines and Scout (cough, outflank) is very useful for Land Raider Redeemers in particular....
Is also good for regular preds as they can move 6" onto the board and still fire at full effect when outflanking (side armour shots, very helpful)
