During the Horus Heresy, which legion(s) would you have liked to see stay loyal to the Emperor? Which would you have liked to see turn traitorous?
I am personally fond of a lot of the traitor legions fluff and color schemes and wish they had stayed loyal.
I would have liked to see:
-Luna Wolves
-Emperor's Children
-Alpha Legion
Stay loyal.
On a side note, of the space marines from traitorous legions that did choose to stay loyal, how many are left in present day and what do they do now? Loken has always been one of my favorite characters.

I think the Blood Angels turning traitor would be interesting to see - perfect daemons with angel wings descending on the horrified loyalists!
Ultramarines would be interesting, considering Horus had to basically throw two Legions at them to keep them away from Terra. They would have been a very powerful boon to the Traitors.
The Alpha Legion are still ambiguous in what they do, so they could easily have done exactly the same as they already have.
Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus would have been interesting to see - Horus' approach to war taken on his own brethren except fighting defensively instead of offensively. Would have show mercy to his fallen brothers, or make them the point of his speartip strike?

Personally I think it was impossible that the Word Bearers, World Eaters, Night Lords and Thousand Sons could have stayed loyal as the Word Bearers were the first to turn, the World Eaters and Night Lords were already on their paths to damnation (both in part due to their troopers being psychotic and their primarchs having endured a really abusive childhood) and as for the T-sons, it's implied the moment Magnus came into being Tzeentch already had a plan for him and the planet of sorcerors. All of those legions were basically screwed from the getgo.
As for the ones that could have changed, I can see that Horus and Guilliman could have swapped roles. In fact it may make more sense, considering Horus is often stated as the favoured one over all his peers, while Guilliman tried to start "Imperium 2.0" during the heresy, so the ambition is there. Plus Guilliman had one of the largest legions at the time if I recall.
As for Blood Angels, I could see Sanguinius being fought over by Khorne and Slaanesh equally, and possibly ending up fracturing the legion between the more immaculate Archangels and the crazed Death Company. Sanguinus himself would probably either be destroyed or turned into the first example of a Daemon Prince uplifted by two gods at once, and result in a mad prince that has a split personality disorder.
With that, I could see fulgrim taking Sanguinus's place, as basically being the Emperor's Champion during the theoretical Ultramarine-led siege on Terra.
As for the Imperial Fist, if they ever turned traitor they probably would have started a ceaseless war against the Iron Warriors (regardless of whether or not the IW are traitor) now that Dorn doesn't have to defend Terra and the Emperor. The end result is likely that both legions would wipe each other out and basically be broiled in their own little conflict within the heresy with neither making a bigger impact on the conflict as a whole.
I could see that the Death Guard having stayed loyal if Typhon ever slipped up about his psychic abilities. They would probably take the Fists' place at the defense of terra (or alongside the fists if the latter hasn't turned).
As for the Luna Wolves, had they stayed loyal they probably would have been the furthest from Terra, meaning that they would basically be in the same place as the Ultramarines. This is because if Horus remained loyal, he would be continuing with the Crusade as planned, having little reason to turn back

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

What I would have liked to see is more Primarchs dying during the Conflict. Lots of mortals died, but few of the Emperor's Sons.

I think the legions are fairly perfect as they are. Automatically Appended Next Post: Storm Shadow wrote:

Also none are alive as far as I am aware. Marines can't live for 10k years.
