Ah Tau Empire can now be seen on the main map. It grew 10x the size or more depending on how big the speck it used to be was relative to its new zone of control.
Good time for sure. I want to test out the ol plot armor against other foes and see how it fares in stories. Maybe we only had indestructible plot armor vs marines and IoM?

He has been fighting Tyranids for the past years, so who knows how powerful he got during that time.
I wouldn't be surprised if its turned him into a real BEAST of an Ork

the Tau have been blissfully ignorant of chaos for awhile, given the surge of chaos activity I can't imagine that remaining to be the case, it'll be intreasting to see how this all plays out, partiuclarly if they discover that human populations are apt to spawn psykers are resulting in the Tau losing worlds to chaos demons. How would the Tau respond to it? simply culling human populations within the empire? perhaps they'd simply gather up human psykers for containment? maybe we'd see mass Pogroms agaisnt humans spring up? it'd certainly be a chance to take the Tau, and keep to their fluff, while adding some tarnish to their sqweeky clean image

Actually the Tau are very much aware of Chaos. At least the higher ups. With the Hadex Anomaly, Deathwatch, and even the Jericho warp gate warp line running from calixus to hadex anomaly I think it's safe to assume a good chunk of the content in the Jericho reach was and is cannon. Which means the Tau forces engaged chaos for control of the sector and no doubt lost.
It's very likely they've been dealing with chaos for some time, but this is on a whole new scale. They also can't hide it as easily as the Jericho reach stuff since it was so far from the main Empire.
It's any guess. I suspect a small time jump has happened in the setting between the end of GS series and current 40k. If so then the Tau could have adapted in any number of ways depending on their outlook and resources.
I'm very interested in seeing the new Tau lore for the setting. I still think Tau-cron will be a thing and they will try and put a stop to the warp as their grand overarching goal.

They may be aware of Chaos's existence. But not of its true nature. They'll just assume its some variant of humans who have some strange abilities. They are ignorant of the nature of the warp, and the existence of Warp deities.

People are making far too much a deal about the Ork signs.
If you wanted to be completely accurate, with the exception of Terra and the Eye of Terror, you could basically paint "here there be orks" on the map and it'd be accurate, to varying degrees of density. Those Ork icons are just the biggest or most notable kingdoms.

Indeed. Orks are perhaps the most common sentient species in the universe. They are practically everywhere.

Ghazzy vs Angron. One on one it would be pretty lopsided, but bloody cool!

I dunno, without giving ghazzy a big power boost, at that point I think GW might as well play it for laughs, and while Orks are hilarious at times, making Ghzzy a joke would be bad

Im waiting for those smarter than I to super impose the ork, necron, khaos empires over the known galactic map.
There does appear to be less Ork controlled space. I just put it down to GW wanting to put da Orks, lead by a great green Vulkan, friends wif da impys.
Tau are being plot armoured again. the vag now protects them from the Tyranids, Ultra ultra marines dont care.
As usual all the important things are happening far away from Guilliman, but he never was particularly bright.
Dont worry Roboute, Im sure your version of super soldiers will turn out better than your fathers.

Beep boop I'm a computer. Resized the new map to be close to the same size as the old Ork Population Density map. And these maps are not themselves inherently contradictory-- it just means there's gonna be a lot more chaos-ork fighting going on. There's never been many Orks around the Eye of Terror or Terra. Biggest populations are south and center, and northwest of EoT. For reference, the southernmost of the huge dots in the center of the galaxy was inside of the Maelstrom warp storm (warp storms have never stopped Ork investations). Automatically Appended Next Post: Here's another one to use to compare, a newer one of Ork Kingdoms from 7th: Bear in mind, places outside of those still have Orks, just no major kingdoms.

it's likely Orks and chaos are definatly fighting, I mean, I doubt the Orks just politely walked away when chaos showed up on Armageddon

looks like they put out some new info on the map, nothing terriably new in it but we do know the "common name" for the big warp split is now "the great rift" not a whole lot of new info, but the ending that those on the far side of it have it much worse suggests some bad stuff, if I was a blood angel fan I'd be eyeing my army with concern

Two WAAAGH!s actually. But that's expected as Orks are the most populous species in the galaxy.

Yeah but come on, a line has to be drawn somewhere, it's Solar! Anything within Solar that isn't Imperium should be already dead IMO.
The Imperium really is falling apart...

To be fair, It is Wazdakka Waaagh! that is rampaging through Solar. His goal is racing from one corner of the galaxy to the other. Terra isn't on the list of planets he wants to conquer, so The Imperium might ignore him for that reason.
He is a threat, but not a threat to Terra directly.
Or he is so fast that the Imperium can't catch him.
