I'm not saying it's unfaithful to the original show. I just didn't really like the original 'roseanne' to start with. I imagine some shows won out with the political climate and others did not (rest in peace possible 'drawn together' and 'married with children' reboots) but that's not to say they'll be good (reference to 'the last jedi' and 'ghostbusters' reboot). Of course we've had movies somewhat of the political climate that were at least decent or good anyway ('rogue one' and 'wonder woman'). There's hope for the show but even without the political climate there's a rule about movies or games sucking when the last one was made like 20 years ago before the update.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

I mean based on that review of the first few episodes, it seems like by "addressing the current political climate" they were more thinking about pushing the whole "we can disagree and still be fambly" angle, maybe with a touch of "being disaffected and disadvantaged doesn't make you a racist monster", more than the "HURR DURR TRUMPERINOS ARE TOTES TARDS GUYS" that people of that inclination seemingly wanted it to be, which is why it's usually best to reserve the outrage for when they actually do insult you rather than jumping straight to DEFCON Hannity.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.
"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal |

Considering people now think trump voters are nazis and a lot of tv shows are fairly left wing politically it wouldn't be shocking for it to go that route. I will wait but it was never a show i was big on even in its original airing. There's many shows i'd rather have rebooted that won't be or reboots of shows i liked more that supposedly didn't turn out so hot ('arrested development'). I suppose i could give it a shot but i'd rather watch some clips of the show than anything. I barely watch any tv anyway with south park probably being the exception and rarely even then.
"Much has been made over Barr’s decision to have her alter ego be a Trump supporter, but in the episodes screened for critics, politics serve mainly as fodder for intrafamilial ribbing: Jackie passive-aggressively brings a bottle of Russian dressing to dinner; Roseanne counters with “Aunt Jackie thinks every girl should grow up and be president, even if they’re a liar, liar, pantsuit on fire.” Mercifully, Jackie and Roseanne end their election feud in a tearful hug by the end of episode 1."
Ok interesting. Maybe i will give it more of a shot.

I enjoyed the original run despite Roseanne, not because of her.
I felt sorry for Dan and the kids. I'm sure the new series will amp that up to 11.
