My bases are done all the same way.

PVA, sand, wash with a mix of black/pva/water, drybrush grey, spots of static grass. It's cheap, and it means that all my models have some features in common even if they're completely different armies.

I'm both orderly and rational. I value control, information, and order. I love structure and hierarchy, and will actively use whatever power or knowledge I have to maintain it. At best, I am lawful and insightful; at worst, I am bureaucratic and tyrannical.

I find passive aggressive messages in people's signatures quite amusing.

Voted for custom bases. Basically.

I have been dabbling in making rubber moulds and casting resin bases from them. Have a couple now, amongst which a very first attempt, where I used sand, cat litter stones and a variety of skulls and pieces of sprue cut to resemble crystal growths on basic 25mm, 32mm and 40mm bases, for simple starters. Added some slate bases, which due to colour variances can also be painted to look as ice slabs for Fenris-like worlds.

I use the regular bases that come with the miniatures. I put some Citadel texture paint on, then shade and highlight it. I then glue some grass tufts onto them, or occasionally small rocks, in order to make them a little more interesting (usually I do rocks before I add the texture paint).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

I always create a theme for my army that I then make bases for.

My Tau army are veterans of the Mul'guloth Bay campaign, and as such are on city-fight style bases; roadways, building rubble, etc.

My GK have lava bases to reflect that they are fighting a daemon incursion on a world that is being destroyed by Exterminatus and the planet is breaking up underneath them.

My CSM have a more 'freeform' basing scheme, and use bits of basing sand painted w/ a metallic black and have various skulls, bones, etc. on them from old TK sprues.

Sometimes, the only truth people understand, comes from the barrel of a gun.

No multiple choice? Large bases often custom homebrew. Troops on standards with bling.
