I am starting a new 40k Ork army and would like to stay within the Fluff for painting them instead of just making stuff up. My question is do Orks ever come in other colors than green?

Old fluff had one tribe (...blood axes? Bad moons? Been a bit) that liked to paint themselves blue for luck. Evil sunz normally just paint their vehicles red, but I could totally see them doing red bodypaint. That said, fluff wise only green actual skin.

Paint the faces like braveheart! That would be different.

All of mine have the skin painted blue. I have also seen red, grey and pink skin Orks.
It's up to you what color to use.

I made a conversion of an ork warboss on bike, and i painted his skin dark red and it does fit it's role in an evil sunz horde.
If a warboss paints his bike red with the blood of his slain enemy, why stop with the bike and don't color da boss himself in red

8000 points fully painted
hive fleet belphegor 3500 points
1k sons killteam

Dakka is the ork word for shooting, but the ork concept of shooting is saturation fire. Just as there is no such thing as a "miss" in a target-rich environment, there is no such thing as a "dodge" in a bullet rich one

The Ork clan that uses blue/paints themselves blue are the Death Skullz

Blood axes are red normally, and Badmoonz are yellow. Neither do the facepaint thing though.

Yeah, sorry, been a bit since I dug into the old 2nd ed fluff. I was mostly looking for "outs" the OP could use to justify painting not-green while staying codex fluffy.

The closest is the Deff Skulls who paint themselves with blue stripes, patterns, or just completely blue. My orks all have blue markings on them.

I'd say it wouldn't be unreasonable to have them painted completely blue.
