Use the blood of Grey Knights players as armor paint. Yunno, for the payback.

More realistically, I'd find the biggest powercombo possible and go play in tournaments and play off-beat maybe this will work lists against my local group.

'm going to play want I want to play. I find it a little ridiculous that someone won't play a certain type of army. If 8th isn't balanced, don;t blame the player, blame the company. 7th was a ghastly mess, and I never really got into it......but I'mvery excited for 8th. Feels like a big step in right direction.

In 7th, it isn't ridiculous. A game lasts, on average, anywhere from 2-4 hours.

I'm not going to stand around and do virtually nothing other than remove my models for 2-4 hours.

There is nothing fun about that.

There are other things I could be doing instead.

I didn't pick my list because it was particularly strong, I picked my army based on a HQ (Typhus), then tried to build fluffy from there, so plague marines and zombies. Did I bring some obliteraters because they were strong? Yes. Though if for some reason Typhus and Plague Marines became rediculous, I wouldn't stop using them. I would be disappointed. If spamming something else in my army is strong, I wouldn't start doing that.

TLDR rambling: I would just keep playing because I love my dudes.

It has been a real labor of love and money to get this army together, and has not been built to be cheese.

And this.

I have collected what I thought was cool and interesting rather than what exploits the rules.
If somehow this ends up accidentally exploiting the rules then I would trade those elements out for other cool elements and complain to the abyss about the rules having a hole in them.

If my future army becomes OP, I'll try to adjust for the more casual players and simultaneously bring my OP army to tournaments so I can show GW more directly how OP the list is and why they need to fix it.

Wait, see & adjust.

We're going in blind to a fundamental change to unit equivalence; OP may now be based entirely on matchup instead of all purpose murder tape.

This would be truly delightful.

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement.

Making units or model OP is something that is inherent in GW's releases.
Have a look at the Executioners in AoS. These guys are OP like no other. A unit of 10 Executioners costs 200 pts (which is average for (heavy) infantry). Each hit on 6 causes 2 mortal wounds. That's OP. Compare this with assault cannons in the 4th ed. Each hit on 6 caused one rending wound. In 5th ed, hit on 6 was replaced by wound on 6.

I took OP's question as "your current list you use is now OP, would you still use it"

I'd still use my collection, if 8th is actually worth me getting into, whether they are OP or not; just because GW don't know how to tabletop properly doesn't mean I should have to sell anything, or change around a list that was always built for theme rather than optimal functionality (although it'd be great if 8th could combine those two things to some extent).

I don't think my army is in danger of becoming OP, but if it did I wouldn't have to many choices but to just play it or start a new one. There are only so many options I can take in the first place.

I won't care as I mostly play against friends with lists that are arranged in order to be balanced. If my orks, dark eldar or space wolves become op I will always build my lists in order to offer a fair match against my opponent.

Sisters of Battle are going to have to get entirely new rules for 8th.

It could easily happen that sisters of Battle are OP.

At this stage, almost anything is possible.

You forget that Games Workshop's idea of a huge overhaul for sisters is to rerelease the same codex from years ago with no changes other than arguably making it worse by now excluding Forge World models.

Tomb Kings did become one of the most powerfull armies in AoS, before their nerf (Thanks to Settra basically) so believe me, SoB being one of the most OP armies in 8th is totally possible

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

I'm pretty sure my Tau will be consider OP or unfun whether or not it is the case.
To be honest from assumptions on the announcements Tau appear to be getting a lot better in this edition (the actual release will be enlightening). A kind of sidestep (this isn't based on much other than assuming some weapons and units etc.
Although if the Rippy remains unchanged 1 lascannon could auto kill it.

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!

koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa

I've spent the last 10 years playing casual soft lists on purpose. With this edition I am going back to breaking the game and playing OP lists by default, and toning back for campaigns because in my area the casual games are always tournament prep games and I have gotten tired of trying to have a casual low key game without having to politic hard for it. So if my army is now OP, that saves me work.

Things like this are why after some time off I am working on fleshing out a faction instead of building a list. If you have options you can to some extent avoid playing super OP lists as well as avoid having your list ruined by a change to the game. For instance you mention missile launcher spam, there was a time in this game when that was one of the "OP" lists, so if you built that list during that time, then editions changed and it was no longer good, or points changed and you no longer had a legal army etc.

If my Army became OP in 8th edition I'd be very happy. Then realize it doesn't matter too much what I take out to play as I get maybe 12 to 20 games a year.
I'd definitely run more OP grot mobs at every opportunity just to rub it in that my army is so OP.

The rewards of tolerance are treachery and betrayal.

SoB list becomes OP? I would lap it up. I would enjoy the disdain, laugh at the tears. Years of neglect and jokes. I would be TFG and lord it. It might only last a week before GW realised they made their punching bags strong because of some typos and them delegate them back to token victim.

I feel like a lot of my fun things would suddenly become unusable if SOMEHOW the planets, galaxies, and the warp rifts themselves aligned to make SoB OP.
I usually run them with a knight even in a 1500 point game..my opponents find it actually balances them. At least it did until Celestine the unkillable noodle armed hero came along. I seriously hope they buff the crud out of her. She can decimate a vehicle and any infantry she hits, but being such low strength and only armorbane bugs the crap out of me.

And I like running my knight. I have 4 of them, I might as well use one in games. Now it sounds like they might be a bit too strong to use in games under 2000 points though. I guess my opponents could just tailor their lists a bit more than usual.

I rarely play the same list. I mean, the gist of it is usually the same but I vary things a lot. I'm already steering clear of Eldar because psykers and bikers are kinda OP (even with shuricannons instead of scatter lasers, they pump out some serious pain), and I've almost shelved my Tau, because my choices seem to be OP, or gimpy.

Sisters? Dark Eldar? That'll be the day. But if the builds I like with them become OP, I can modify them, and probably would depending on how OP they are and what the local group likes playing. (Our best represented factions are CSM, Tau and Eldar in that order, with a fair bit of SM, Guard and Daemons)

Space Marines? They'll have an OP build. They always do. I tend to run lots of mechanized infantry supported by Devs (usually with lascannons) and bikers with plasma: if that turns out to be the broken build, I'll modify it. But please, give me a reason to want to run my Captains again!

As I play an 1850 tournament every month that unusually has a first place prize of 50.00 store credit. If my army become OP, I guess I would do what the Tau player has been doing this expansion.

Expand my army or start a new one with my spare winnings.

CurrentlynI have an ABG list, but am waiting before starting a proper IG soldier list.

If an all vehicle army becomes OP, I might hold back on using all my tanks, and instead add more infanty. Maybe not, who knows

If massed infantry with flamers, lascannons, morters, autocannons, and vox becomes OP, I may town down the flamers, I may not. Maybe I'll take less heavy weapons teams. If standards are also OP, I am keeping them, there look too cool.

I wouodn't rewrite may list to take the most of the spam, and I wouldn't signifcantly tonenit down. I make my armies based off what I like, and what looks or sounds cool, not based of statisics.
