Loving (and missing) my old Nid builds, Im hoping that monstermash comes back big time.
For SWs I hope I can run lots of assault troops in LRs and plough forward like a real mechanised assault.
Crons I'd love to see a foot wall list come back - just 10s and 10s of warriors advancing mercilessly - maybe even backed up by Monoliths
IG tank/artillary lists too.

Whats your hope for a viable build for 8th?

moar foot lists. With the changes to cover, I'm betting that flimsier units like guard and orks will be (sadly) less likely to be seen on foot, but I'm desperately hoping that when I play any of the 49 flavors of loyalist marines, chaos marines, sisters of battle, etc, I'm no longer just fighting Rhinos all the dang time.

I came here to see pretty models on the tabletop going pew pew, not look at dang plastic boxes!

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Aspect Warriors in Serpents and Falcons. Rangers for what they can do best. Maybe a Seer Council. War walkers with lots of dakka. No jetbikes. This is the army I'd like to field.

More footdar, more Stealth Suits (and not that gorram OSC, thanks, though I like the models in it), Wyches, lots of Wyches, mechanized Fire Warriors, Commando Guard, jump pack assault, Nidzilla... You name it. There's lots of stuff that just doesn't work in 7e (and a lot of it didn't work in 6e either).

Oh, and another: Penitent Engines. Sure, you can't quite build an army around them, but I'd like a reason to run mine!

I am Kroot. Vespid can come too. I want a reason to bring Hammerhead, and railgun broadsides. I hope snipers are as good as they are hyping them to be, but line of sight might till be an issue. I want Pathfinders to be good again and their special weapons good enough to justify not firing a ML.

I have about 2000 (in 5th edition) points if painted Imperial Guard that I haven't played since the first few weeks of 6th edition, plus about 3000 points unpainted that has never seen playtime, and it is all sitting in a few boxes and on shelves, awaiting redeployment. It's a combined mix of tanks, artillery, infantry, and a couple flyers.

I also have an old Armor Cast Reaver Titan that is older than me and I haven't played since I bought it. I would like to field it without feeling like a jerk.

I would also like to field my two painted Imperial Knights without feeling like a jerk.

I want to use my converted Ogryns and Rough Riders and feel like I have a decent chance of winning.

I want to field my Iron Hands Chapter Tactics Space Marine Bike army with Artillery and Scout Sniper support without being criticized and told to "git gud".

I want the cheesy WAAC players to be brought down a peg and change their playstyle to go to another game system (I mean, it's okay if they want to be WAAC super-competitive, but that cuts to pool of potential gamers in my area by about 60%).

I want to have fun and get models painted.

I want cool campaigns hosted or promoted by GW and be a Narrative player.

I'm building up a Tyranid army right now in the hopes that Tyranids in general will be viable, but more specifically warriors and carnifexes!

Also I'm hoping that terminators will be viable so that I can run some Deathwing terminators in my Dark Angels force.

All in all I have a thousand sons force that I've had since the late 90s. I have an eldar force (Iyanden). I have a guard force (formerly a leaf blower in 4th edtiion). I have a necron force. I have a Death Guard force.

My hope is that one of these is busted so that I can play in tournaments in 8th ed without having to buy another army.

I am looking forward to getting my Covens army up and running. With lots of wracks!

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

I want to get into the game again with my friends.
We have several armies lying around and I just hope new Edition is streamlined like GW said + not to a point that it gets boring.
This power point system looks like a good start to get back into the game. Especially when taking those unbalanced missions into account.
Im currently repainting my old Space Marines into Yellow Templars cause they were Black Templar with those Templar Bits. Still looking for a name though

Yes this is right. I am hoping that people stop calling their lovingly collected, assembled and painted armies "builds".

For me it is blood axe orks with looted wagons and a walker cult with kanz dreddz and morkanaut,
Inquisitors with retinues, terminators, land raider crusader and tac marines and devastators,
Mixed aspect eldar with a few catapult bikes, support weapons and one tank, harlequins support cuz the new harlequin bikes are neat.

I refuse to own a wraithknight, more than one unit of warp spiders and the only scatter laser I have is on a guardian platform.

I'd love to be able to run a court of the young king style list of at least a ynnari aspect host.

If gw will let me run both avatars I will be very happy and just lots of aspect warriors on foot.

Crisis suits and stealth suits jumping around the field, juking and jiving while piranhas sweep through on vulnerable targets, all backed up by a three-tank hammerhead lance and broadsides.

I want to be able to run my Deathwing again without feeling like they're holding back my Ravenwing.

Hell, I want to be able to run pure Deathwing again without seeing it get melted in a couple of turns by a torrent of AP2 fire.

And I want to use my dreads again. No, not the mutli-melta drop pod suicide dread. The classic TLLC/ML one or the AssCan+Fist one. I want a dread that can deploy on foot and possibly actually worry someone.

And I want to be able to use my multitude of heavy bolters and lascannons again and for them to be effective against the targets they should be effective against.

For the Orks
I want to do a Tredd Headz army with lots of Battlewagons, so hopefully they'll be a dedicated transport option for a lot of units. Also I hope they make Killkannons and Deff Rollas good.
I'd also like to do an orky gunline, which I assume will never be good but I hope it's good enough not to get tabled every game. I really like it when my orks actually manage to kill things through shooting.
I've got a bunch of walkers, so hopefully something like a Kan Wall will be viable.
I've got about 10,000 points worth of orks, because I love them dearly, so I'm going to have a bunch of different builds and I'm guessing at least one or two will be decent. I'm especially hoping Battlewagons with lots of upgrades will be good, because that's the one I'm most excited about.
This isn't exactly an army build, but I'm hoping that Battlewagons and Stompas have a lot of options for customization.

Imperial Guard: I'm hoping that my infantry squads will be able to run behind my LRBTs using them for cover.

Iron Warriors: I'm hoping that I'll be able to do a crazy elite army with very few models. I like the idea of CSM being extremely elite, 10,000 year old veterans and I started collecting them because I thought a very elite army would be a nice change of pace from my other armies (orks, IG, 'nids).

Tyranids: I recently picked up a bunch of them, but I'm not yet emotionally invested in any particular build.

Oh, I also hope that cybork body is good and cyborks are a unit that can be taken. I want to do a Mad Doc themed army. I scored a WHFB giant for cheap and I want to ktibash it into a huge cybork that 'counts as' a Mega Dread. I've also got six of the AOBR warbosses, and I want to make an orky cloning tanks piece of scenery and put the numbers 1-5 on their bosspoles (one would be going into the tank as the original). If cyborks are a unit that would be cool, but if not I figure that all the modifications I do to my boyz and nobz can just count as 'Eavy Armor.

On moon miranda.

I really just want to be able to viably run a mechanized Stormtrooper army. That's really what I've wanted aince 4E, and while there have been options for making such armies, they've largely all been garbage or quickly made so, at least in terms of tabletop viability.

If I can run a DKoK Assault Brigade with Grenadiers in Chimeras, and have it work at least enough that I have a 50/50 chance against any army I might encounter, I'll be pleased.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.
