I would love either some chaos to boost my chaos force or eldar because I love the models, the hopefully wont be OP and they are quite different an a good sidekick to my chaos force.

Does it matter? We already know it's NuMarines and Deathguard.

I personally hope there's three:

Imperium vs. Chaos.
Imperium vs. Xenos.
Chaos vs. Xenos.

Don't really care about the main starter sets but I hope we get some good start collecting boxes.

Pretty sure it is going to be Space Marines vs Chaos Space Marines.
The wars between the Imperium and Chaos are really the focal point of the fluff lately and of the new edition, so a xenos faction would not make sense. And Space Marines are the defining element of 40k, so their appearance in the starter set is virtually always guaranteed.
Really, I have trouble seeing a starter set for 8th could be anything else.

If I could make a wish, then I'd wish for Imperial Guard vs Genestealer Cults.

It isn't concrete but I think it's pretty certain.

My only thought though is when they made TSons they slowly removed TSons from the CSM page and into the tzeenetch page yet the plague marines havent changed.

Yep! That and more battleforces like last Christmas and things like the Talons of the Emperor box.

If they follow AoS and release the rules for free, the starter set is much less of a concern unless you're actually starting.

I have more Marines than I'll ever need and don't have a great need for Death Guard., so I'll be printing main rules and the rules for the armies I play off, hole-punching them and putting them in a project binder with tabs. That way I can swap pages out as they get updated with errata and different points costs and scribble my own notes down on the pages without feeling guilty.

I love these starter sets because if I sell the other half its pretty much free.

I hope they come out with a few more, I would like to see something like Eldar vs. Orks, IG vs. Necrons, or Tau vs. SM as those battles occur but we haven't had a set for those yet.

I cant see them doing that but I love the sound of that, will I like the idea of a small nurgle army I would much prefer something quite different to CSM.

The new Necromunda game called SWA included SM Scouts and Orks instead of lowlife gang scum. That was a real bummer for a lot of people who have fond memories of this popular Hive-City.
If you follow GW´s reasoning this could only mean one thing for the following new 40K Starter Set:
We will get two Necromunda gangs instead of Uber-Marines and Nurgle CSM.

Anyway, I have 2 ideal boxes, neither of which of course will ever happen - xenos v xenos and non-SM-IoM v xenos. Just anything besides Marines. I'd like to see GW take the chance. I'm almost certain, w/ the right faction (something aesthetically pleasing like Eldar or Tau, IG even, etc), it'd still sell well.

But yeah, something like Eldar v Orks or Tau v AdMech, etc. Hell, how about IK v DE w/ an Errant or Paladin, still for $100. Would probably sell like hotcakes...

truthfully I suspect a marines vs death guard. and I think it'll sell quite well. assuming they avoid throwing too much chapter bling on the marines, it's a great oppertunity for chaos players, and as such proably would sell quite well

We all know it's marines vs. something (seems like ultra smurfs vs chaos fatties and daemons), but if they do have multiple boxes that would be an awesome second pick. Ultramarines actually make sense. if you include the santus reach and shield of Bhaal box sets. you had each of the big 4 other then ultramarines with a boxed set. so it's the ultramarines "turn"

I hope it is Death Guard for Chaos, I can't wait to pit my Guard against a whole slew of Nurgle players in preparation for my now once a year at most game I will get against my buddy who lives in another state when I go to visit him.

They might do a two forces starter akin to Overwatch.

For a starter I would like to see Ynnari Vs Noise Marines. Gives us the 'mandatory' MEQ plus interesting new Xenos

Hell, anything for a bit of sisters publicity and some new sculpts in plastic, even if they are crappy starter set pushfit ones.

I hope for Death Guard, looks like I am in luck.
I would love for it to contain terminators as I currently don't have any, looks like I am even luckier!

It's a "starter set", intended for those "starting" their collection, what would you expect to attract new people?

Hopefully we see some other box sets in the future, Tau vs Necrons for example (which they have set up in the new Warhammer Community fluff article)

yeah space marines are kinda 40ks poster child. someone just thinking of getting into 40k, is proably gonna be familer with space marines.

I would like something that doesn't include marines at all, to give non marine factions more representation. Something like IG vs necrons or even daemons. Or a xenos vs xenos box set
