Words to the wise... This may make a few people squirm.

I do not recommend anyone do this to their models with out first testing and practicing on other things like sprues nor to I recommend that the inexperienced use heat metal to do what I do.

This Broadside has been in an extended campaign and has had to go time in and time out without proper refit. Having suffered at the hands of energy weapons, Melta's, bolters, and such. This Shas'vre has time in and time out put himself in danger to protect the Greater Good.

I know, I know likely extremely excessive. But it was a lot of fun. In the future I will hold back a bit.

Thoughts?

That looks fantastic. I would be extremely nervous as you only have to screw up bad once with so many gashes, but I can't find one that just pops up as botched. It also seems like you can tell fairly well between the 3 types of melts/ gashes/ bullet craters.

Practice, daring, and a light hand are all things used here. The melting is a firm touch with a heated nail.

Nothing was botched and nothing was pre-planned. I drilled first use the side of my file for the gashes, and said nail for the Melta. The scars were with a hobby knife which is harder than it looks.

Great work, that should paint up very nicely indeed! Do post more shots when it's got some paint on it!

If I can live up to the hype. I need to figure out what base metal color is for these then paint the battle damage to suit. Will be fun

If you have a soldering pen, you could make some really neat looking melta/plasma damage.
