Well, busy week, and I couldn’t get motivation to do anything. This morning I decided to just push on with.....something, so skaven blood bowl thrower got some attention. Still not done, need to finish skin tones and touch up a few other items.

Amen, it’s all part of the grey horde I’m trying to thin down anyway, besides I notice when I’m not focused on painting I’m focused on what to buy next , which I don’t need to be doing anyway, so painting the pile is beneficial .

Wirecat wrote:Interesting and informative stuff on these new paint, thank You all!

No problem. They were never meant as miracle paints, but as time savers for beginners, which I really think has happened. The critical video shows I’ve seen are “Pros” trying to do things with the paints that they are not intended to do (one guy was mixing the paint with the grey seer primer to get more contrast ).

Camkierhi wrote:Any progress is progress in itself. Nice start on those. Love Skaven, always have.

Maharg wrote:Those Stormcast are looking great, those contrast colours are working well, tempted to try the white out myself. Nice start on the skaven too

Thanks, I really like the white contrast. It simplifies what I tried to do a long time ago with white painting, which I gave up on because it was too tedious.

Anyway, just woke up and knocked out the rest of the Skaven flesh.

Good enough for tabletop . Now onto the next skaven player......not sure which to go with. I need to find a rat ogre for the team that’s not covered in guns or derpy looking Forgeworld model. I know they made one for the Island of Blood set, just have to find one cheap.

Thanks on the warpstone work, it’s mostly how Sir Duncan paints his, I just didn’t have the proper dry paint so substituted another...and now they have discontinued the yellow glaze which I’m just about out of .

The Night Terror could work, but no one stocks Mantic around here and if I make going to order one model, I’ll just order the GW one in case I’d ever play in a tournament. Besides I really like those guys from Island of Blood .

Edit: so an hour and 19 minutes worth of paint and another model down . All basing will be done when the team is painted up.

Over the undermotivated, but now no time , 4th of July tomorrow, birthday Friday, working every day between now and next Wednesday . I’ll have a few hours today to do some painting....maybe.

I got most of stormvermin blocker done Monday/Tuesday but didn’t have time to snap a picture till now.

Not really happy with the golden horns, will probably change those to brass, and need to dirty up the armor with Agrax wash as well.

So many people I know, or are one degree separated from are born on the 5th of July. Current co-workers grandson, former boss (who was my good twin , who coincidentally had twins like my wife and I, who also met her spouse at work like my wife and I, two other people I worked with, someone from our church, and one of my favorite writers and comic book authors John Byrne, and a former Pastor and mentor. Also just looking up the date, P?T. barnum and Huey Lewis share my birthday too. When my kid starts we’re little I had them convinced that the fireworks were for my birthday, a reminder for everyone to go buy me presents . Celebrating depends on when I have to work. My mom dropped off my favorite cake yesterday, but couldn’t stay, and I had to leave for work so the cake will be enjoyed around lunch today before I head in tonight.

inmygravenimage wrote:I really like your oily steel. Also WOO BIRTHDAY!

Thanks, it’s just thinned down leadbelcher with Nuln oil and agrax earthshade. Dirty rats .

So long tiring day yesterday, hospital was quiet which means I can get stuff done, but then I’m exhausted when I get home. Did a lot of thinking of what my next project/ purchase is going to be as my mom gave me some fun money . While contemplating last night I remembered I had a big old Ratbomination from Zombicide that I wasn’t too happy with the painting of, so I started a rework this morning.

Old paint scheme. All my Zombicide zombies had green skin, it just didn’t translate well and I kind of stalled on doing any more detail work.

Start of new paint job, trying to match him closer to the Shadespire guys and Bloodbowl team, though I think the white fur will stay instead of the grey black of all the others. Also no clothes to paint green, so he will definitely stand out.

So still contemplating Bday spending. I have a few favorite ideas:
1. Most likely I’ll just buy a bunch of the Warhammer Underworlds gangs I don’t have, it’ll get me close to where I’m caught up (need the 9 gangs I’m missing and I’ve got enough for 6-7 right now), there’s a few I’m not too worried about, but all come with different cards and I make a completionist .
2. Rebuild the rats, they were my first Warhammer army (started in WHF then 40k a few years later), I’ve always liked the dirty backstabbers . While I will probably never get into AOS, it would be a nice return to building them again....though it’s a Horde army .
3. Grab the AOS starter set Soul Wars, comes with the main rulebook and plenty of more Stormcast and NightHaunt models (Really digging the ghost army look I’ve been able to do), and with the Soul Strike box I bought recently it’s the start of 2 armies. I just see this as a big rabbit hole that I don’t want to afford, and the stormcast models still are more miss than hit for me as a whole range.
4. Worst idea of the bunch is picking up one of the Apocalypse Bundles for 40K, the Primaris set is growing on me as well as the big Tyranid set , must stay away as I’d have to get the core rule book and all and the Nurgle/Primaris started set just doesn’t draw my attention.

Feel free to weigh in guys . Off to paint more while everyone but me sleeps in on my birthday .
Edit: more painting done, Nurgle sort still drying.

That’s my thought too. I can pick up the random Skaven thing here and there over time. 40k isn’t much of a draw either.

Why is your country flag saying Turkey? Are you on holiday? Or are you a prisoner of human trafficking to be sold into painting bondage? Because if it’s the last I have a whole pile that needs painting...and we can make vroom vroom noises as we play gaslands .

Edit: his yellow pustules will definitely need to get washed down a bit, the question isn’t wether to do it with agrax, Reikland, carronburg crimson or athonian camoshade. The camoshade might help draw him more into the greens of the other skaven clothing.

Well if that’s how you like to enjoy your summer , meanwhile I’m enjoying the dank (not really as I have a dehumidifier) darkness of my basement to avoid the heat and getting in some painting time here and there.

Speaking of painting time, I got a tiny bit in yesterday before work, so I did more work on my big nasty dirty rat. Bone spikes, claws, teeth are done and pustules are now 100% dirtier too.

GW just showed off Dreadfane which is a direct to bookstore game based on Warhammer Underworlds. I bought the Storm Strike set as it contained these figures, but I’ll grab this when it hits the stores (US +Germany only from what I heard ) for the cards and boards and stuff. I’m sure they will sell the gangs separately again like they have done for the season one Shadespire starter set gangs.

 OrlandotheTechnicoloured wrote:

Having a real hard time justifying buying the rest of the gangs, I have a chunk of money from BDay to spend and I could get most out of the way, but the Skaven and now Wrath of Kings stuff on clearance are both gnawing on me for attention.

Does anyone have a WoK hate forged Titan that could give me some measurements? Thinking of subbing him for my Chaos Teams Blood Bowl Minotaur if he’d fit, though he looks like a big lad .

Edit: touched up the fur as some spots had gotten covered by flesh and pustule, I’m almost liking the stark white more , might have to wait and see if it grows on me tonight.

Meanwhile base coat of flesh done on the rest of the Blood Bowl skaven.

Thanks Youwashock, Well the plan today was to buy ASOIAF and some clearance stuff at Miniature Market, but the ASOIAF was sold ,so back to the original plan. I ordered 6 of the 9 gangs that I was missing, from ice those come in from my FLGS then I’ll get my loyalty points which will cover 2 more sets which they have in stock.

Started on the Minotaur from the Massive Darkness Troglodytes expansion this morning, depending how tired I am when I get home in about an hour I think he will get some more attention. Right now he is just base coated with Mournfang Brown.

Also shout out to Highlord T. I was wondering about the size of a wrath of kings model and he hooked me up right away.when I get home I’ll have to see if it’ll work out or not.

Edit: Wasn’t feeling like painting last night, right to bed .

Woke up this morning feeling good about my miniature order even though it breaks my unwritten rule of “more cheap models”. With the six gangs I’ll be getting 30 models at about $6 a pop, but since they contain cards and are a true variety of races to use.

Warbands ordered:
Ylthari Guardians
IronSkullz boyz
Zarbags Gits
Farstriders
Sepulchral Guard
Eyes of the Nine

Still left to grab later:
Profiteers
Mollogs Mob
Godsworn Hunt
The FLGS has those three in stock and I’ll use my point s to pick up two of them, hen the buying stuff on hold for a while........

Great work on those BB Skaven. The green scheme works well, and the warpstone is really nice.

I'm pretty bummed if Dreadfane ends up being US/Germany exclusive. Well, hopefully the warbands will be available separately, at a reasonable price..

Cool stuff going on here. The Underworlds models are a blast to paint. The small warband size makes it so you don't get burned out before you finish and the models themselves are wonderful. The game is pretty good too!

I just got the skaven BB team myself this week. May have to get them built soon.

It’ll be carried by Barnes and Nobles, and from what I hear they ship internationally, so you can still get it. The gangs will definitely come later separately.

Well a few hours of painting done between base coat and now.

I got new glasses about a week and a half ago, first time bifocals . The lady said I wasn’t there just yet for my eyes as my vision is still good, but I could switch any time, so I did.....and I’m switching back. I’m taking my glasses off or looking underneath them to do my painting as the bifocals require me to move the model further away to get the vision right, but my skills have been trained to paint upclose . Also driving home a time midnight I’m used to using my peripheral vision, gives me double vision out of the corners of my eyes. Luckily the eyeglass place will replace the lenses for free since it was so new.

Couple more shots from utter angles.

Tried a few new paints, so far I’m liking the tones.
