I'm not saying that Oblits have become useless, but they certainly won't be auto-takes like before. However this is a good change, as before a lot of choices in that slot were weighed against the Oblit for their usefulness (especially after the Oblit could gain the MoT or MoN, making them far more durable than they had any right to be). Being "good" is a lot better for the health of the game than being "op"

I'm just generally excited because a lot of units that have languished for editions because of crappy rules now finally gets to shine.

I new so I don't know really and correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't chaos pretty weak in 7th ed anyway? if so then I am willing to bet they are going to balance them back in for 8th, it seems to be how they are setting it up anyway to balance back in stuff that has been kept out of play due to detrimental rules.

I'm not sure that Chaos was necessarily 'weak', but the focus of this edition is being shifted back to the narrative of 'Imperium v. Chaos' for whatever that's worth.

Haven't really seen any new units I'd want to buy. I like the design of the redemptor dread? But there's been no new guard, sisters, or ork units that I've seen (edit: morkanaut maybe?), and I'm not going to invest in a new army for a while, so....

I'm hoping once the primaris Marines are rolled out we'll see a new range of toys for the guard. I can't see Gulliman not deploying new stuff to the guard, and it'd be a good excuse to upgrade the basiuc guard kit.

Third edition codex for sisters of battle was Codex: Witch Hunters, released in 2003. Sisters have not gotten anything new since then; their subsequent codices have simply kept the army in line with whatever edition the codex was printed in, with minimal changes to special rules at most. Most of their miniatures are from the previous edition in 1997, a few from 2003, and a single HQ miniature from last year (Celestine, who wasn't even a new character, thus not counted as a new unit or new addition).

Yes, actually, I fething would. I would appreciate a full line of plastics-- and enjoy them immensely! But if that's all we get, and nothing new other than that, you're gorram mother fething right I would complain, and furthermore I would have every gorram right to do so. Every single other army has gotten new units, new rules, new stuff to play around with over the course of the many editions of 40k, the many decades of, except Sisters of Battle. Even armies that were literally dead for years, like genestealer cults, got more out of the latest editions than Sisters have. And it's about gorram time we get something. It is not entitlement or whining to expect, after all this time, to finally get something fething new to the army when every single other army has repeatedly gotten new things. And if you want to try to paint me as greedy or entitled or whatever other garbage you're probably going to puke out onto the thread because I had the audacity to expect more from GW, I'm not going to give a damn.

In the past, for non Space Marine factions you normally received some kits a year. Some years you had the relaunch of a faction or a new faction with tons of kits.
But after the change of CEO, this last years have been very proficent with that: AdeptusMechanicus, Genestealer Cult, Deathwathc, Harlequins, Thousand Sons, now Deathguard, etc...
The same goes for Age of Sigmar. After like 6-7 years without new armys for Warhammer Fantasy in Age of Sigmar, in two years, they have made 6 new factions with tons of new kits.
Sisters of Battle in the past 20 years have receive a new character, Canoness Veridian (A Resin character) and a redone of a old character, Saint Celestine, that received a new plastic model alongside two new sisters of battle with jump packs, the Geminae.
5 years ago I had said that the probability of GW relaunching sisters of battle in plastic was near 0. Today? I'm much more hopefull about that posibility.

It is quite common. IIRC, Genestealer Cults actually didn't even exist as a usable army for something like seven or eight years? Prior to this they were in a campaign book that was out of date for several editions. But got a relaunch in seventh. Dark Eldar had a 3rd edition codex that was released early on in the edition, before the Sisters 3rd ed, were eventually relaunched at the tail end (I think?) of fifth edition in 2010 with a completely new set of miniatures and rules. People at the time expected Sisters to get the same relaunch treatment, but seven years later, still nothing for Sisters. Dark Angels kinda sorta got neglected for a while, but they've gotten some new toys and rules over the years as well. Automatically Appended Next Post: Galas wrote:Sisters of Battle in the past 20 years have receive a new character, Canoness Veridian (A Resin character)
Canoness Veridian was a limited-edition "event" character that is not in the core codex, and based on current rumors, is not going to be in 8th edition either. 99% of players will never see her, play her, or play against her even if they travel across the world playing against every Sisters player they can find. Galas wrote:and a redone of a old character, Saint Celestine, that received a new plastic model alongside two new sisters of battle with jump packs, the Geminae.
The Geminae are tied to Celestine, attached to the hip one might even say. I count them as basically part of her miniature because of how tied her rules are to them and vice versa-- even if you could take them without her (and you can't), there'd be no reason to.

She was limited edition at first but after people complained about that they have made it a permanent miniature.
https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Sisters-of-Battle-Canoness-Veridyan
if they sell her, he is gonna have new rules. Or maybe she will be a generic Canoness. But the miniature is here.
And yes you are correct about the Geminae. She is like Aun'va of the Tau.

Yep.

But to be honest I have 0 idea if she had some new special rules or she was a generic Canoness like some other characters as Seraphicus the special one of Dark Vengeance.
