Thought I'd see how capable we are of killing the big guys, since theres been a few complaints of us lacking the tools to reliably take down high W, high T targets due to our perceived lack of multiple damage weapons. This is without FW stuff, will have to wait and see what goodies they bring.

I made a Patrol detachment, made it easier to fit everything in. I dont think its possible to make a brigade for necrons <2000 points!

Anyway.

• 1x Cryptek - 104
• 20x Warriors - 240
• 10x Warriors – GA - 290
• Monolith - 381
• Doomsday Ark - 203
• Triarch Stalker – 181
• Scytheguard – 150
• Nightbringer – 230
• 3x Scarabs – 39
• 3x Scarabs – 39

1858.

Scarabs are screening units for the big guns.

Warrior blob backed by GA full of warriors and flayer arrays, with a cryptek buffed 5++ to shooting and 4+++ RP should shred infantry coming up the board. 80 rapid fire ap-1 shots a turn. All with split fire!

Monolith, C'tan and Scytheguard are in DS reserve, giving more of a chance for 1st turn.

Stalker hangs back with the Doomsday ark, shooting first with its Heavy 2 S9 AP-4 D3 HGC, which allows everything that shoots after it to get a +1 to hit on whatever was attacked by the stalker. So Doomsday ark hitting on 2's with its Heavy D3 S10 ap -5 D6 damage big gun. Also, the monolith will get the +1 for both its flayer arrays and also its assault 6 S8 ap-2 D3 damage whip. I gave it the stalker the HGC not only to do damage more easily, but because it has the largest range, meaning it can stay out of charge ranges for longer, allowing the +1 to be passed out more reliably for a greater period, as it cant disengage and shoot like other units can. C'tan's 4A hit on 2's, wounds on 2's (unless a vehicle, then its S7) w/ ap-4 and D6 damage each. The scytheguard have 2A each @ S7 ap-4 D2.

Deep-strike shenanigans:
T1 monolith deep-strikes 12" away from Big Rig
T2 C'tan gets gated in 9" away, starts chunking of wounds with ap-4 D3 damage, and also D3 mortal wounds, before hopefully charging in. Monolith moves closer
T3 C'tan should be in, if not dead and the scytheguard get a 3" charge with their warscythes which will swing first that round.

While not great against hordes - this should obliterate any high T, high W target on the board.

Monolith can't gate in the C'tan.

Eternity gate requires <Dynasty> Infantry

C'tan have no <Dynasty> and are Monster not Infantry.

Don't see much I disagree with, other than the rules thing punisher pointed out. Stalker and doomsday ark make for a good backline pairing, which frees up your cryptek to mother hen the 20 man warrior blob. Scythe guard hang out in a tomb world, and pop out like the cool-aid man after the monolith deep strikes in the opponent's face. My only concern would be outside of the scarabs you don't have many fast units, so if you get a denied flank you may have a hard time closing the gap.

Constantly being negative doesn't make you seem erudite, it just makes you look like a curmudgeon.

Your right. It is super frustrating not having the actual book and relying on photos of books

In that case swap the C'tan for a 10 man blob of flayed ones.

Or swap the nightbringer for the deciever. Use his D3 unit redeploy shenanigans to get the monolith where it needs to be before the game, allowing T1 scytheguard gate. You lose a fair wack of offensive punch, but allow for earlier charges. I would prefer the first option, as it allows for two rounds of shooting from all of the guns before the thing is locked in combat.

Yea I think the stalker/DA pair will be a reliable big game combo. The good thing is there is no distance requirement, so you can have the stalker hiding at one end of the field sitting in cover, and the DA at the other end sitting in cover. That way you are spread out and the enemy is forced to split more of their firepower at different ends of the board, spreading them out.

And yea, the 30 man warrior blob backed by GA and a cryptek is also a very solid combo.

The chronometron only affects <dynasty> infantry models, so theres no point babysitting the vehicles at all.

Overall I agree though. I love my crons fast, the monolith bypasses some of the speed requirements for critical units, but it is still a slow army.

I just wanted to show that its not all doom and gloom, we do have options for killing the big things, just have to go about it in different ways compared to other armies.

I find that people who thought their army was bad before the changeover still think their army is bad, and people who liked their army before the changeover think their armies are in good shape afterwards. I'm definitely in the later camp, I liked 7th ed crons, and like what I've seen so far in 8th. The optimism may yet get beat out of me, but for the time being I'm having fun.

It's also nice getting in on the ground floor, no netlist, no established meta, just figuring things out as we go. I have an 8th ed day at my FLGS on saturday and I'm really looking forward to seeing what other people have managed with their armies. Thinking that I can influence the meta instead of the other way around has me pretty upbeat overall.

This 1000 times. The combo's and options available to us have gone through the roof, so many new and fun things to try. Literally any type of configuration we can think of is now available, unrestricted by decurion etc.

Happy little vegemite I am.
