Subject: Harlequins & Eldar project - old & new (Shadowseer 29.7.)

Hello!
I am trying to paint a Warhammer 40k Harlequin & Eldar army consisting mostly of old models. All Harlequin troops and Eldar stuff is old, but I have bought some new vehicles for the Harlequins as there are no old versions available. The plan is to have three Troupes (5-6), some vehicles and a couple of characters for the Harlequins and a little bigger army for the Eldar. Here is the test Troupe almost finished:
I will paint the scarfs and manes in different colour for each group. The "holosuit" and other stuff will be similar for all troupes. Any tips and ideas are appreciated as I will do some more work here and these are not varnished yet. This will probably be a slow project
EDIT: Updated Images (previously Photobucket)

These are really nice, harking back to ole Rogue Trader days of yore.
I especially like the diamond patterns you've hand painted, and despite Harlequins being an artists best friend I love the uniformity you've presented these with.

These old Harlequins are such great models, and you've done a really spectacular job with them. I like the limited, muted palette.

Thanks for the comments! These are painted with water-soluble oils and my selection of colours (three different blues) partly dictated the palette I wanted to paint the holosuits in camo mode, thus the transition from grey to blue in the legs of the models.

So whats next on the list? Or is this just a limited run of models as 'one offs' ?

The planned Harlequin force (after 8th edition leaks) is...
Shadowseer
2 Troupe Masters
Solitaire
Death Jester
3 x 5 Troupers
3 x Starweaver
Voidweaver
(3 Skyweavers)
I have all the models but I am not sure how fast I can paint. So I keep low profile about these. I have some extra Harlequins in addition to these, as well as a comparable Eldar force (to be used as allies).

Of that looks quite fluffy and fun, tbh. Looking forward to seeing what you decide to paint next!

Thanks for the comments!
Solitaire (still wet):
I will finalize this after the paints have dried - I'm also a bit unsure about the cloak, e.g. should I make the pictures more visible (darker/lighter shades).
On to the Troupes...

That cloak is fairly amazing. I sort of like it subtle, but you may want to punch up the contrast just a little so people don't miss it.

Yeah that looks excellent I'm a massive fan of models that look fairly basic from a couple of feet away but then if you pick them up and look them over whole layers of complexity unfold in front of you.
I know it doesn't work as well for actually playing with them as you do spend most of your time a couple of feet away from them, but I still prefer it to the over-the-top brightness of highlights when stuff's painted for the tabletop. Seems less realistic to me.
