Did everyones bikes/Jetbikes lose jink or what? Literally the only thing that has a negative modifier in the ork codex is the flyers.

Yup, only ravenwing have jink and it's a 5+ invul when they move flatout (called advance in this edition). Dark eldar have a better jink equivalent, since it's always on and doesn't require an advance.

Constantly being negative doesn't make you seem erudite, it just makes you look like a curmudgeon.

That sucks, Ork biker went up in price, lost Jink and our flavorful Dust cloud rule that gave us +1 to jink when we went flat out.

Nerfed and went up in price 50% :(

That explains why Reapers don't ignore Jink anymore at least.

Thisedition seems to be shifting the play style of many armies and list builds... why only Ravenwing though, from a fluff perspective? Bikes are bikes...

Maybe it's to emphasis that they're suppose to be really skilled riders or something.

Yes I know this is basically a slap to the face to other bikers, especially White Scars and the aforementioned Nob Bikers.

On moon miranda.

Jink was a mechanic with a lot of issues and lots of unnecessary widespread application. DA's were the first ones to have it, so it's going back to being their own unique special rule again in a much more toned down state, but I imagine we'll see it again as the codex cycle kicks up.

Well honestly it appears as if Ork Bikers are slightly tougher then before with their 2wounds. But that pretty much equals the loss of Jink and technically more so since so many weapons now will be doing 2+ damage, killing them outright.

The Dakkagunz got a tiny bit better but not enough to cheer about. Really im starting to look in other places to find Ork units to pickup the slack. I hate to say it but it looks to me like Buggies/Trakkz are going to replace bikes. Slightly more dakka (because of range), three times the wounds, can outflank and only cost less then twice as much.

Most Dark Eldar <vechiles> have a 5++ against shooting, but this isn't Jink since they had a similar upgrade before. Reavers lost Jink though, but got a better Armour and an auto 8" advance, so it's all good.

Eldar Shining Spears have a 4++ against shooting

All Harlequins got a 4++ and all 3 "---- Weaver" units are -1 to hit for their Mirage launchers. The nasty thing about this is that it isn't a 1 turn ability anymore. It's active all game.

That's all the Aeldari units I can see that got something similar to Jink, but Jink overall is gone.

Well, almost EVERYTHING except basic troops went up in almost all books ....so nothing exceptional there.

Oh, and to be CLEAR: THE OLD JINK IS GONE - they do NOT have the old Jink.

They can't have someone target them, then you say "I jink...". That is GONE.

What they have now, is that if they decide to advance (run) in their movement phase, they get a 5++ against shooting until the next turn.

This is NOT the old JINK, this is something different - they just called it JINK.

So, to answer your question - Jink (as it was in 7th) is GONE.

That sounds a lot like 5E Jink, where you got a 5+ Cover save for moving or a 4+ cover for turbo boosting/moving flatout

It's almost identical to 6e Jink, in fact.

Jink was a rule that was invented for Dark Angels in 2nd edition. That's why.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Me too, although they are Characters with 10 or less wounds. So you can't target them unless they are the closest target.

Still, the idea of jinking just rubs me the wrong way. Or rather, cover saves in 7th edition rub me the wrong way.

Because the rule Jink was originally created for the Ravenwing back in 2nd Edition (along with Skilled Rider allowing for easier skid turns!).

Ravenwing have always had the whole "skilled biker" shtick going for them, and Jink was one of the rules created to represent that. For some odd reason it was handed out to a great many things over several editions.

So now it is back where it belongs and the rest of y'all can cry big salty tears as we only occasionally use this mild advantage that costs us +1 point compared to a normal SM bike (is it bad that I'm more excited that DW and RW are reasonably costed compared to normal marines in this edition than I am about what special rules they have?).

In general, most bikes are quite a bit tougher than before because bikes now appear to be +1T/+1W. So if your bikes went up in cost, that's likely why (along with most bikes having twin [something] weapons that also got a big boost in effectiveness).

Jink was a dumb and broken rule that had nonsense like 2+ cover flying nurgle princes jinking against overwatch shots as it charges into melee.

It's a very good thing it's gone.

I was a kid now AND a squid now before it was cool.
