I think these factions will be merged, I just got a hunch. Seeing as GW want simpler things they probably imagine the kids wont notice a difference between them.
To the old school fans they could explain it by the hive mind having fooled the orcs by presenting itself to them as gork and mork all this time. And in a grand alliance they both come together, the orcs gladly letting themselves being biologically enhanced, and the hive mind eagerly bolstering its numbers with new technology and a rudimentary intelligence.
They could even have a subfaction where the hive tyrants have left the hive mind because they are jealous of the attention given to the new recruits.

Highly doubt it, though admitedly even meaner, space bullies could possible emerge if combined those, but that's more like a Forge World project than GW, I can see 150+ EUR cost Green Tyrranids
Tyranids have cool new rules and interaction with Genestealers and Astra Militarum
There is point in collecting all 3 of those as you can use them separately or together
Orcs, well, they do deserve some love, so love just for them

I've read a lot of strange predictions and fears here but this the most bizarre and illogical idea I've read here.

The Tick: Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you've got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception. |

If the hive mind could control/trick orks, it wouldn't use them as soldiers, but as food to create new soldiers of its own.

Nope, this seems entirely quackysocks to me. It's almost as probable as merging Tau and Necrons.

You know what, I wouldn't put it past them. Tau and necrons are pretty interchangeable.

You know those Space marines and Chaos space marines look pretty similar, the kids might not notice if GW just combines them into one force.

Now that's just taking it too far. To merge csm and sm would be like trying to make meat and bread taste yummy together. I don't think they would, even if it meant bankruptcy, because they would never taint their love child.

Most likely, or at least trying to start some kind of conflict on the forums.
An actual serious contribution:
I witnessed a game of 8th being played using the indices- 1500pts of Orks vs Blood Angels. Using only 4 units of Ork (Nobs, Boyz, Warboss, Stormboyz) they did quite well against 1 termie captain, 5 termies, 2x 5 man tac squads, a Baal pred, a regular pred and a Land Raider. I don't know who won, but the Nobs took down the land raider and it seemed close as anything.
As for nids, eh. Cawl's Cuisine is coming soon to a table near you

Part of it comes from "the new 40k is dumbed down, for kids..." mentality.
I have to say, after playing actual games - it is streamlined NOT dumbed down.
Positioning, target priority and strategy are VERY alive and well. There is a lot of planning and finesse in assault positioning, and placement of models is more important then ever with the double edged implications of the rules detailing where the defender takes casualties (play a few games...you will find it out...).
Especially with command points, and their strengths and limitations.
If anything, we are going to see more factions of tyranids and orks, not less.
Unless of course, this was a troll.....but we should not feed the trolls....
