So; first pass at a 2000 points of terrible Ork list. The initial plan was just the Shoota Boyz and Storm Boyz, but then I wanted to see how that could be turned into a Brigade Detachment list.

I really don't like that it looks super weak to vehicles/high wound count armies, but... and yes, I know Slugga Boyz > Shoota Boyz 100%, I just like Shoota Boyz. Plan is for Weirdboyz and a squad of Shootas/Gretchin (maybe Stormboyz?) to jump on turns 1-2, hopefully getting off an assault... after that, I'm not too sure other than push forward and WAAAGH.

Brigade, 2000 points
HQ 1: Weirdboy - 62
HQ 2: Weirdboy - 62
HQ 3: Big Mek on Warbike+KFF - 101
HQ 4: Mad Dok Grotsnik - 74
Troops 1: Shoota Boyz (30) - 180
Troops 2: Shoota Boyz (30) - 180
Troops 3: Gretchin (30) - 90
Troops 4: Gretchin (10) - 30
Troops 5: Gretchin (10) - 30
Troops 6: Gretchin (10) - 30
Elite 1: Kommandos (5), 2 Burnas? - 45
Elite 2: Kommandos (5), 2 Burnas? - 45
Elite 3: Kommandos (5), 2 Burnas? - 45
Fast Attack 1: Stormboyz (30)+Power Klaw - 265
Fast Attack 2: Stormboyz (30)+Power Klaw - 265
Fast Attack 3: Stormboyz (30)+Power Klaw - 265
Heavy Support 1: Big Gun, Kannon (3) - 99
Heavy Support 2: Big Gun, Kannon (2) - 66
Heavy Support 3: Big Gun, Kannon (2) - 66

To be honest, it looks like it'd do terrible on the table, and yet - it is 150 Boyz+misc that'd need to be chewed through. That said, it is also 2000 points, so... probably not too hard to do - especially if the Tyranid Swarm is making a comeback.

IG Heavy Weapons Teams could probably crush this list with firepower, point for point (12 point heavy bolter teams, so sad). Kommandos can try to krump some of them though.

if you wanna go stormboy heavy, take zagstruk and rum em in smaller squads.

zagstruk has a 12" bubble making stormboys essentially fearless.
place zag in the middle of 6x10 stormboy mobs and let em zip through the field. give half of em big choppaz. take the points drom the gretchins. its great target saturation and gives you more flexibility for maneuvering and attacking

btw you could try to teleport the gretchins to bubblewrap multiple enemy units. just stringline em around the enemy zone and u've got yourself a wonderful area denial unit for 90 points that will last one turn

That's a lot of boyz... looks fun!

@RedNoak: Zagstruk's aura is only 6" - that said, he is very nice, and that fearless bubble would be great. MSU of Stormboyz is actually a great idea; that would give me a lot of flexibility. It would weaken PK's, but given the new SvT system for combat, Big Choppas are probably the way to go (especially since they're 9pts vs 25pts). I'll have to contemplate how to revise this list with this in mind.

Good call on the t1 grot shield/surrond - I hadn't considered that, but it'll likely be super valuable in making space and getting up field.

@Aetare: Thanks! It does look pretty fun - I'll have to get some movement trays to help make the first few turns more viable, haha. But before that, I gotta get so many more boyz. XD

@Aetare: Haha, I meant I gotta pick up the models first I can assemble this army - that said, I'd love for it to grow as big as possible. Need even more Boyz than what's in this list, so I can keep trying out variations (with even MORE troops).

I'm not sold on pk's on basic nobs anymore they hit on a 4+ and have done poorly in all the battle reports I've seen. Pks only do well close to a waagh banner nob or on a tankbusta vs vehicles (not ideal placement), or on a warboss or other model (such as mad doc) with 2+ to hit base (up to 3+ w klaw) and sometimes an atk squig to reroll when needed. for the price big choppas are better and power stabbas (only nob squads) are even better for the price. Even worse is most non unqiue characters that can take powerklaws can usually upgrade for 3pts to a killsaw which is much better since its a -4 ap.

List looks fun and will cause issues to a lot of lists. We don't know how the meta unfolds so hard to say what is the best list right now. Orks have several ways to make their army counter meta. Don't poo poo shootas I honestly believe the best units have mixed shootas and sluggas. Allowing you to fire shootas as you advance (taking casualties from the shootas), and when you finally get into charge range using the choppas to go to town on your enemy unit. something like a 30 boy squad using 10 shootas and 20 choppas might be ideal to allow you to optimize a list.

@gungo: Good points - Big Choppa's are probably better overall compared to the klaw now.

Also good call about the shootas; since you can mix them, it's probably better to take a mix like the one you suggested, since you can take casualties from the back/shootas. I'll probably have to swap some out, since I plan on t1 charging with atleast one squad.
