I've been working on my new Aeldari force for 8th edition, and as part of the process I'm creating my own Craftworld and background. So I need a custom Craftworld Rune. Which I've had a go at:

I'm a little confused on how to transfer this to a decal/transfer, any pointers ?

I haven't done it myself, but you can buy transfer paper for your printer (it has to be a pretty good printer) and you can print them yourself. You need to be careful about handling them and definitely use some sealant.

I'm sure there are some YouTube videos or hobby articles on it. The toughest part is apparently printing white? (i.e. you have to have a good printer capable of it?).

Some things to consider regarding home printing decals:

• Decal paper is made for both inkjet and laser printers. Paper for one cannot be used in the other.

• There are two types of paper - white and clear. Each has limitations.

Clear Paper: Both ink and laser toner are translucent. When applied to clear paper, unless your image is just black, the background color will add to the color of your image - yellow logo on a blue background will be green.
Also, unless you specifically knew to purchase one that does, your printer does not print white - the assumption being you'll have no need for white ink if you'll be printing to white paper. You can get around both the discoloring effect and the 'no white' issue by creating two versions of your logo, one full color, the other just a black outline. Apply the outline logo to your model following all the normal procedures, and allow it to fully dry. Then fill in the outline with white paint. Now apply your full color decal on top of that following normal procedures.

White Paper: This gets around the 'white ink' issue, but introduces another - as this decal paper is opaque white, your background paint job won't show through. You can get around this by adding a color background to your decal sheet. Of course, when you cut the decal from the sheet, the edges will still show white, but you can blend the decal into your surface with your background paint.

• Laser printed decals can be used almost immediately out of the printer. Do take care not to print more than 2-3 sheets at a time, as even though it's designed for laser printers, laser paper can still melt when your fuser is too hot.
• Inkjet paper needs to sit for a while after it's printed so the ink is dry. Once the ink's dry, you need to spray a thin layer of clear gloss paint over the sheet. Allow that to dry completely, then give it a second coat. This seals the paper so the water you use to apply the decal doesn't cause the ink to run/bleed.

• Set your printer to the highest DPI setting you can, and turn off any 'low ink' settings. You want the logos to look crisp and clear, not half a step above freehand painting.

Cheers chaps. I'm thinking of getting the decals done by some kind of outlet service that has access to a ALPS printer for white ink.

The complication is the YinYang that I want in the symbol, with its White background, but I'd prefer the whole design to be on translucent paper so I don't have to mess with cutting out the decal too much or using white paint to fill in the symbol.

I'm gonna go play around in Inkscape some more and see what I can come up with to evolve the design.

Two-layer decal. Paint the yin yang circle white, second partial layer to do the black portion of the yin yang. Include the outer circle and 'stalk' for alignment. Cheaper than sourcing a white print and looks far less stark as you can shade the white appropriately.
