This is probablly going to be disproven pretty quick, but in the game Prey
Spoiler:
human scientists map human memories and emotions onto a Typhon organism.
In 40k (yes I know this would most likely be considered extremely heretical) could the same process be applied to Tyranid organisms, say Lictors for example which are more intelligent than gaunts but lack synapse linkage

First, SPOILERS! don't fething ruin things about a game without a spoiler tag butt hole. Some people probably wanted to play that game and don't want to know the story.

Second, there is no such thing as a Tyranid organism that lacks "synapse linkage". All Tyranid organisms are connected to and a part of the hive mind. Even genestealer cults are driven by their programed biological drives that feed into the hive mind before the fleets arrive and drive them on to further the extinction event the nids propagate.

Besides that, the nids are extra-galactic organisms. There is nothing, NOTHING in common with Nid biology, physology, or psychology that is even remotely relateable to a human mind. When any psyker even attempts to make contact with the hive mind they get driven mad and die. Good fething luck.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

"
Spoiler:
Their physiology is incomprehnsibly alien. . .
They also lack mirror neurons, preventing them from empathizing with the suffering of other beings or even recognizing they exist."
Prey Wiki

“At some point, the Typhon detect an anomaly – something that is resisting them more than anything else they’ve had to fight so far,” Colantonio says about Morgan Yu. “You are a problem. You’re a virus, in other words. So they develop this thing called the Nightmare, which is actually designed specifically to hunt you, find you and destroy you."
“The more Typhon Neuromods you install, the more Typhon-like you become, and the more the Nightmare becomes aware of you,”
Bethseda: Prey-Typhon Guide

Also the Typhon use a construct called Coral to contacta Typhon superorganism.
So it would appear that Typhons do have a limited hive mind and also, if a non synapse Tyranid is not in range of a synapse tyranid they are not directly connected to the Tyranid hive mind.

This is a theory of the imperium that has actually been proven wrong. Imperial Armor 4: the anphelion project is a place where the ordo xenos set up fenced areas to study and experiment on several low level tyranid organisms (Hormagaunts, genestealers, etc...) Nothing that would be a synapse creature. They were still connected, and different organisms burrowed and began to mutate and develop into entirely different genomes. Warriors, shrieks, flyrants, hierodules, hierophants, harridans, trygons and raveners were all grown and developed through driven mutation of the most basic tyranid organisms by the needs of the hive mind to counter the fences and defenses of their situation. Hormagaunts on their own are not supposed to be that devious. Not that intelligent. It's only together with all the other tyranids, even other hormagaunts, that their collective intellect (Hive Mind) is able to force adaptations on that scale.

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. However in this case how come Tyranid descended creatures exist on planets without the same results as at Amphelion( this may have been ret-conned).

I fail to see what would be the point of that.

Those Tyranid descended creatures are not confirmed to be that. The only one, to my knowledge, that is still canon and confirmed, is the Ymgarl Genestealers, but Genestealers are unique in that they can often range FAR ahead of the Tyranid armada.

They/them
