What do people think of the new rules for warp talons? I haven't seen them mentioned much in the discussions of the new rules. I also haven't seen many people putting them in their lists.
They still seem pretty expensive compared to raptors, but the warpflame strike rules are pretty good.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone has tested them out yet with any success.

If you have a sorcerer nearby that can warptime them closer to combat they are amazing. No overwatch striking first and rerolling wounds make them hit very hard.if you have a deamon herald nearby they even get +1S

They look like a unit you need to buff hard and build a strategy around (turn 1 alpha). Their baby cousins the Raptors are more of a utility unit that can perform multiple roles and be used to fill in gaps in your list but Warp Talons look like they need to be the focus of your list to make them work.

That's what I was thinking, looks like I'll be stocking to raptors for now. It's good to see them back as a viable option though.

Talons are a assassination unit you drop them and a sorcerer behind the enemy lines and rip out the heart by hitting charaters or heavy weapons. Remember we dont have any snipers so being able to get behind the enemy screening units is very useful for us

A big choice in any CSM army is going to be which unit to warptime and for what purpose. You can surely warptime Talons behind enemy lines and assassinate key targets, but as I said, you need to build your army and tactics around that. If you intend to warptime something else, then Talons are probably not worth taking. Might e worth trying to get an Apostle to Drop Claw down near them too so they get re-rolls on their hits. They need building around though to get the most out of them.

I didn't think of that. Could be very deadly, definitely something I'll keep in mind because I think I'll be running my sorcerer in termie armour.
