Subject: Red Scorpions and the return of Roboute/Primaris Marines

Red Scorpions are perhaps the MOST strict adherents to the Codex Astartes of any Chapter. They are also quite obsessed with the purity of their Geneseed.
So what do you guys think? How do the Red Scorpions react to the return of the author of the Codex himself? How do they view the Primaris Marines?
Personally, I could see it going to one of two extremes:
1) They practically die from joy at having THE MAN HIMSELF walking around in the flesh. They fall right in line with his directives and embrace the Primaris Marines as a further step on the road to further genetic purity. I could even see them embracing the Primaris uplift across the entire Chapter.
2) Complete rejection. RG is trying to style himself as the new Emperor and they want none of it. He also has no right to be tampering with the Emperor's genetic creations. The Primaris are just another abomination to be avoided at all costs.
So how about the rest of you Red Scorpions fans out there? How do they react?

"The scions of the Dark City would never admit that the unceasing hunger at their core is what drives them to such heights of cruelty. Instead they maintain that they act only upon their own desires. Some have even managed to convince themselves of this. In truth, unless our cousins in the webway feed upon a constant diet of extreme emotion they will slowly wither away, leaving naught but a soulless husk. We of the Craftworlds deny all such urges, and in doing so become less than ourselves. Perhaps it is those that we left to perish who are the lucky ones." - Spiritseer Iyanna Arienal, Meditations. |

I'm not a Scorpions player myself, but I think the new Marines would be embraced by the Red Scorpions. The geneseed they bear is already pretty much the same (from what I've seen) as a normal marines, the big difference being that the Primaris Marines get a few additional organs and better arms/armor. At this point nearly every chapter that's getting some Primaris Marines is accepting them, these are guys who are the brainchild of one of the Emperor's favored sons. I would think that the Scorpions would happily take them as reinforcements.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

I'd like to imagine that they would revere the intact heresy-era geneseed that was used to make the Primaris, and that they would volunteer to serve in Guilliman's crusade in any capacity possible.

It depends on how fanatical they are about genetic purity and Codex adherence. Guilliman is breaking his Codex. The Primaris Marines are not Astartes.
It doesn't matter whether it's The Man himself changing things, or if the changes are better or good. If they're actually fanatics, it only matters that there is change. Think about it. If Jesus returned, and said that God didn't actually hate homosexuals at all, most Christians would say 'fair enough, thanks for clearing that up. We'd figured that out by ourselves actually'. However, the utter fanatics would decry this proclamation, saying he was a false prophet, an agent of the devil, or whatever excuse they could find to avoid changing their beliefs. They wouldn't care if it was Jesus who said it. They wouldn't care that it increases their potential membership. It's a change to the beliefs that they are fanatical amount.
Fanatics don't deal in sense. They deal in what they believe, and what they believe is sacrosanct and largely immutable. Belief is a very odd thing. It's very rarely rooted in actual fact.

M aybe but, as has been noted in similer circumstances I think it's a safe bet every cannon chapter will accept Primaris Marines. unless they're deliberatly being set up to fall, as a "cautionary tale"

Well isn't that tedious
I get why of course, so anyone who wants to play as X chapter with Primaris Marines can do without people saying that they're breaking fluff (which is a silly concept anyway). That's a good idea.
I'd like to see a little thought put into how new blood will affect chapters like the Dark Angels though. Having them just accept outside forces into the fold just strikes me as fantastically unrealistic given what their background is meant to be.

That's the thing, Ynnead...the Primaris aren't necessarily "outside forces". Existing Marines are supposed to be able to get "uplifted" to Primaris as well, much like normal humans get "uplifted" to become Astartes.
That's why I'm curious about how the hardliners will react. Since technically they can promote from within.

Yeah agreed, although i think the Dark Angels would still be leery of any outside meddling (even with tech on their own guys).
As you say, it'll be interesting to see how the hardliners react. Provided it's done with thought and not 'oh yeah they're fine with it btw'

I think they would be super keen jelly bean on Roboute, accepting his word as law.
If they followed the book he wrote 10k years before, they would sure as heck be keen on the man himself.

Maybe the Red Scorpions are Star Wars fans, Roboute Guilliman is Geroge Lucas and the Primaris Marines are the Prequels?

Yeah, but in 40k terms it will be like 1,500 years, and by then Robby G will be a bitter old man who got sick of the hate and turned things over to Vulkan.
