Hello all!

To those that have acquired the primaris models in the 8th starter set, you have probably noted that, as per the instrustions and the bases included in the box, there is an irregularity.
There are 32mm bases for the intercessor and the hellblaster squads, while there are 40mm bases for the inceptor squad and the "command" models.

After putting together most of them, i find myself not eager at all to glue the primaris marines on 32mm bases. These bases seem disproportional, like the normal marines on 25mm bases.
I am considering putting all of them on 40mm bases. They look better and seem somewhat futureproof (since i spent a lot of time and effort rebasing 200 marines from 25 to 32mm bases)

What do you think? Is it just me or any of you feel the same?

Thanks!

I had the same feelings. Basically when they were confirmed I was like "You just solved the base problem with the normal marines and now you go and dun did the diddly all over again!"

However the primaris are a little better in that they're not all bow-legged like they just came off of a horse, so it's less noticable.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

I don't mind the look of them on the 32's and feel like the 40's are a bit overkill on the command guys.

As a side question where does it ever state what size bases models must be on?

In the instructions it's 32mm on the regular Marines and 40mm for the command types.

I've been building my set and they look fine on 32mm to me. It's your call if you want them on 40s, probably a bit more room for fancy basing.

We need 36mm rounds now! GW, get to work on this stat!

Really, I think they look fine on the 32mm bases. Since most of my Marines are still on 25mm, I may use this as a way to easily and visually distinguish the models on the table top from my older Marines until I have the time and patience to rebase my 80+ Astartes models.

"Primaris Bases" Don't tempt them, you'll get 5 for £20..

But really, you put them on what works for you. If you want everything on 40mm then go for it, I'm happy with what I was supplied with.

I’ve just built one of the LTs so far, and he looks right at home on his 40. I suspect the squad would as well.

I’m sticking with the 32s for them personally, even if they end up looking a little cramped. Fit in my KR cases better that way.

Theory time: GW purposefully decided they wanted Primaris Marines and standard Marines to share the same base type... and is WHY they upgraded standard Marines to 32mm

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

To be fair, the old marines were always a little cramped on the smaller bases.

ohh agreed, hell I needed to glue pennies to the bottem of my assault marine bases because the base was too small to keep it upright without some more weight
