Hybrid lists were pretty much the Space Wolves' bread and butter in the last edition. Libby conclave + TWC or Fen Wolves. Barkstar. 2+ Invul saves. Wolves and Imperial Knights.
I've been enjoying the mono-faction marines lists in 8th, oh well, all good things and all that jazz.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

I think you misunderstood me DW, by Hybrid I mean "Standard/Primiars mixes not multiple chapters together

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Oh, sorry - my bad.
Future? Maybe. Now? Not so much.
Primaris Marines kind of sit in a nowhere zone for most armies, there's a specialist that's just a bit better on each side of them at the moment - the latest kits might change that though.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

ohh yeah I'm looking to the time when the new kits etc come out. (which is basicly "imminant") Primaris Marines do some things well, but there are also a lot of tools in the standard kit that are great. predatgor tanks for example I think are proably going to be "point for point" the better option over the new Primaris tank (as rumors hold it will be a transport.) barring hellblasters getting some new options that are suprising devestators will still have an important role, etc.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

I don't think primaris marines bring anything to the table that Space Wolves cannot already do and for a better point value at that.

Maybe the Wolves get some wolfy primaris variants when the codex arrives, but I wouldn't bother with the vanilla primaris.

There's only three instances I wouldn't suggest the Prospero box and a Wolf Pack kit over just about any other starting point for Space Wolves.
1. You want Space Marines and a rulebook.
2. You know someone who wants the Chaos and a rulebook and is willing to cough up for more than half of the box.
3. Question Schnedicles, what are your skills with a Stanley Knife like?

I should probably have mentioned that the only thing I currently have is the index so I do want a rule book which is one of the reasons I've been more drawn to the dark imperium box set.

Its been awhile since I've done any modelling but if say still better than average but not the best by any stretch.

I do plan on having wulfen this really is to get myself started with a reasonable amount of miniatures and rules etc to get going then start adding to and adjusting as I learn really.

AoS Chaos Warriors, Reavers and other human Chaos armies have better "viking" parts if you prefer the "space viking Space Wolves" over the "wolfity wolf Wolves", mostly the actual models make good looking Scouts, Warriors in their fur cloaks make good looking Grey Hunters..

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

I would wait til the SM dex drops to see what options the Primaris units get. We know the inceptors have a plasma option, making them probably pretty good, and it seems likely/is possible the intercessors and hell blasters will in their actual kits too. I personally wouldn't buy monopose models with poor wargear options just because they are cheap.

Bit of practice and mono-pose becomes just another sprue.

I get your point, but I think with me being basically a complete novice I'm not planning on having the best army yet. Just one that will be good enough to play with and that i can have fun modelling and painting. Still not 100% decided as i won't be getting anything until Christmas time anyway.

Wolf dex is at most a few months out waiting to it isn't the worst thing you could do.

I am using the primaris marines to start the core of my space wolves army, then probably using them as counts as grey hunters with the addition of a hellblaster as the plasma option.

And once i do that it is the work of a few minutes to give one of the characters a plasma pistol to make them into a pack leader with frost sword. Bish bash bosh 6 grey hunters to go with a razorback!

From the most recent leaks, the loadouts for the inceptors and hell blasters are better in the multi part kit. Inceptors get plasma and hell blasters get assault 3 s7 or heavy 1 s8 versions of their guns with l. I still don't know about the inceptors, though, but it sounds to me like it's worth waiting for the kits.

Actually, they also get 3 bolter options, so yeah id wait for their kits too lol.
