In the datasheets for Orkz the <clan> tag is in the Faction Keyword row. I take it that, in a battle forged army, all orkz in the same detachment cannot be from different clans? So it takes two detachments to get Grotsnik <deffskullz> and Ghazzy <Goffz> in the same list? Can you start Grotsnik in a battlewagon with a Goff army?

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

Sure. Both have the Ork faction keyword.

Unlike space marine vehicles which are limited to carrying <Chapter> models, battlewagons can just carry ORKS

But what if they have different <clan> keywords? The <clan> tag is listed with in the data entry box for Faction Keywords. Formations have to be from the same faction. Can a Mad Dok Grotsnik and a Goff Warboss be in the same formation?

Do they just need to share just one factiin keyword or all faction keywords?

Do I need at least two formations to get Mad Dok and Ghaz in the same list?

Detachments have to share a keyword, not all keywords. Just like how you can legitimately just stick an Imperial Assassin into any Imperium detachment, all Orks share at least the Ork keyword so can all be in the same detachment.

Doesn't matter. You only need ONE keyword in common, not all keywords. You can make every <Clan> unit different if you want, it's just they won't benefit anything affecting only that <Clan>

IMPERIUM are spoiled for choice when it comes to this, while T'AU have no alliance options.

All units within a detachment must share at least 1 Faction keyword. Some armies might have additional restrictions.

In your example, if you chose "ORKS" as your Faction Keyword, then any unit that has that Faction Keyword can be taken. That said, certain units may not be able to benefit from various things.

For example, if you were to take Zagstrukk and Snikrot in the same detachment, you would still need to choose a specific clan for the stormboyz and kommandos. If you chose Bloodaxe, then the stormboyz would not benefit from from Zagstrukks ability. If you chose Goff, then the Kommandos would not benefit from Snikrot's ability.
If you chose them as seperate detachments however, you could choose Goff for Zagstrukk's, and Bloodaxe for Snikrot's.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

What? You do know you can pick a Clan for each unit as you choose it, right? If you want all your Kommandos to be Blood Axes and all your Stormboyz to be Goffs you can. You can even have two separate mobs of Stormboyz be Bad Moonz and Evil Sunz if you wanted. There is no rule that says you must pick a single <Clan> for every unit in the detachment. Not even Ghazghkull insists on his entire tribe being Goffs any more…

Now, obviously, there will be benefits to going mono-clan, like not having to worry about who's in range of which characters so much, plus probably some explicit rule benefits when Codex: Orks drops but for now you can have every unit be a different clan if you want…

Derp, you're right. I misread the rules on <CLANS>.
