So I am getting ready to order some havocs and I plan on having them all use autocannons but I heard that (apparently) the kit only comes with 1 weapon per model. Is this true? I was just looking online for bits and either they are sold out or its only in euros. I really hope this is not true...

If this is the case, does this happen with (most) other sets? I just ordered a terminator box online.

It's true, they only come with one of each weapon.

Your best bet is to kit bash something out of heavy bolters, use the autocannons that come with either terminators or the defiler or possibly order some autocannons from forgeworld.

The Terminators box also doesn't come with all the options. For example it contains absolutely no lightning claws and if I remember correctly only one of each type of combi weapon. Again, try forge world or kit bash your own. I use the lightning claws from Warp Talons for Terminators, and actually they look better. The smaller size makes them look less like gorillas.

That really does suck. I can't find anything in stock online :(
I'll see what forgeworld has.

I'd avoid the Havoc box like the plague; it's ancient and it's finecast, two horrible combinations. The reason the kit is like that is because you use to be able to buy the havocs individually and GW had a bitz order site of their own. The box was just a cheaper bundle if you bought four different ones.

See if you can source some heavy bolter bitz. I think due to the popularity of the Calth boxset, there should be a few of those floating around. A heavy bolter with an extended barrel (doable with a pen tube) is a pretty good approximation of an autocannon. Failing that, see if you can grab spare autocannons from IG heavy Weapon teams.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

another option might be forgeworld, I think you can get a heavy weapons team there. but it might be less cost effective.

Oh I did not know that they are finecast. Well shoot, what would you suggest then? I'm thinking maybe just use a tactical squad and just give them the heavy weapons? (are there any other chaos models still finecast?)

I wonder why GW doesn't offer their bits anymore. I do remember seeing them on their site a long time ago...

So, after looking on FW I found these:

I assume they no longer offer bitz so that people have to buy multiple box sets in order to complete their squads in particular load-outs. Also much easier to manage their inventory I suppose.

Take a look at what I've been painting and modelling: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/725222.page

Obliterators, Mutilators, Noise Marines, Havocs, Lucius, Abaddon, Fabius Bile, Huron.

To be fair Chaos' range is horribly dated - it precedes half the Sisters of Battle range and that is truly ancient and has never really been updated beyond a sprue recruit for basic CSM - meanwhile we're on Tactical Squad...what, 3, 4 now?

If you are willing to consider FW and the Prospero and Calth boxes that unlocks a fair chunk for you - the Heresy armour patterns work a lot better with a Chaos army....my own personal plans for when I do get round to them involves using a lot of Mk IV for an Emperor's Children army.

Now only a CSM player.

They're not cheap but I really like the look of the Evilcraft chaos autocannon models:

I used normal csm with the forgeworld autocannons. The backpack addon for the gun does however NOT fit on the normal csm backpacks. You can make it work with some greenstuff (Made it so it looks like a bit of flesh thats mutating the gun) but if you don't want to fiddle around with it, use a backpack / marine variant that actually fits. After building 8 of those things I'll never try to do it this way again, too much frustration with glue and greenstuff.

Anvil industry sells some great autocannons for a reasonable price.

They fit perfectly.

If you include the MK IV, MK III and special chapter boxes there are 4 or 5 tatical boxes openly avaliable right now. it's... kinda nuts.

Yeah I'll probably go Forge World though still undecided if I'll use the older legion armors or not.

Now I've never purchased anything through a UK/euro based site (i live in North America) Is there an option to pay in U.S. dollars and maybe it just charges some kind of currency convergence fee through your debit/credit card?

It's easy, you just make an account, put your credit card info in and it changes it automatically. I order from Forgeworld all the time.

Anvil Industry has a great selection of weapons including autocannons. They also have some cool fuwion blasterd that I am currently using to create some noise marines. I would highly recommend checking out their armory section for cool new weapon options. They even have chainaxes and other cc weapons!

If you want anything but autocannons, it's easier to buy a set of devastators and just add a few chaos bitz here and there. Or use green stuff to model small spikes. It's not even an awful choice if you feel comfortable with mild conversions for your autocannons, heavy bolters are the common choice but lascannons could probably work as well.

That or forgeworld are the two easiest solutions for getting in from an "official" store.

So I'm going to buy one of those autocannons from FW and I'll either just buy another chaos tactical squad and just put the heavy weapons on them or i might use some of the old armor models and maybe add spikes.
Thanks for the help!

If you wanted to go really fancy and have a particular Legion in mind for your Chaos Marines, you can get the FW kit for them.

The newer autocannons were designed to work with the plastic MKIV armor which is about a million times better than the CSMZ kits.
