Hi,

I have posted up a Combat Calculator for 40k on my blogsite "Fields of Blood"

You can access it at:

http://mathhammer.thefieldsofblood.com/

As well as expected wounds and standard deviation it also gives you probability distribution.

For special saves you can assign multiple saves e.g. Disgustingly Resilient then Tenacious Survivor.

Let me know if there are any errors or whether you can suggest any enhancements.

Regards

plc

Cool. Will do some testing.

Excellent calculator - I can see the parameters of what i would define as "a safe risk". Useful to see the probability of each wound-count removal.

And it turns out that you'd need over 450 lasrounds from conscripts or guardsmen to be within a shout of killing the Avatar of Khaine.

Statistics aren't capped to 10 anymore. You should go up to 20 at the very least.

Armour save needs a 7+ category (Spore Mines, Poxwalkers etc).

That is super useful.

Could we get D6, 2D6, etc options for the number of attacks?

Nice! Did a similar thing in Python/MatLab, but personally I used a cumulative binomial distribution function. That gives you the probability of "at least n wounds", which to me felt more useful than standard binomial distribution. Would be cool if you could add that function.

Other than that, sick job mate. Gonna use this a ton.

updated the calculator with the suggestions:

- add "best of 2d6" damage for melta
- add autohit option
- add random number of attacks (d3, d6)
- shows the cumulative probability when you hover over each bar in the chart

Why...
If you have 3 guns that do 2d6... then it's 6... "d6"
You don't need a separate option...

6+ = 6/36 | Reroll 1s = 7/36 | Reroll Misses = 11/36 ||||||| 5+ = 12/36 | Reroll 1s 14/36 | Reroll Misses = 20/36 ||||||| 4+ = 18/36 | Reroll 1s 21/36 | Reroll Misses = 27/36
3+ = 24/36 | Reroll 1s 28/36 | Reroll Misses = 32/36 ||||||| 2+ = 30/36 | Reroll 1s 35/36 ||||||| Highest of 2d6 = 4.47

Because when I asked for it there wasn't a D6 option it was purely numerical attack values. It has since been added.

Another useful option
A box that allows you to put a point cost
Then point cost is divided by the average wounds.

6+ = 6/36 | Reroll 1s = 7/36 | Reroll Misses = 11/36 ||||||| 5+ = 12/36 | Reroll 1s 14/36 | Reroll Misses = 20/36 ||||||| 4+ = 18/36 | Reroll 1s 21/36 | Reroll Misses = 27/36
3+ = 24/36 | Reroll 1s 28/36 | Reroll Misses = 32/36 ||||||| 2+ = 30/36 | Reroll 1s 35/36 ||||||| Highest of 2d6 = 4.47

Is it possible to add things like Venom Sacs (+1 wound when you roll a 6 to wound)?

Also rending claws and massive rending claws, where AP improves and sometimes damage goes up (for the massive ones) when you roll a 6 to wound?

Great work on the site!

Couldn't you just open multiple tabs or am I misinterpreting this?

Great calculator by the way!

Had to come back and say - absolutely the best mathammer tool for this edition! I have no idea why anyone would use anything else.

Which browser and OS are you using? I can just swipe back and forth between them or open them side by side in two windows.

That said - the ability to input two sets of data and see the graphs overlaid would be AWESOME but it really would just be icing on the, already delicious, cake.
