Subject: Building an army, any suggestion?

Hello,
I recently restarted playing to 40k with the new edition. In the past I collected some miniatures without organizing an army. I have 2 tactical squad (one painted as dark angels but I can repaint in a different chapter color), Thyco of the Blood Angels and the emperor Champion (Black templars). Plus an assault squad, 5 custodian guard and 5 silent systers all unpainted
Can you suggest me how to create an army of imperium? Can I mix different chapters or is better to create separate armies? Of course I know I have to add some miniatures but I'm wandering what to buy...
Any help Is appreciated
Thanks

If you prefer, don't repaint your models, but rather take a detachment of each. Call it a crusade force if you will.

Welcome to Dakka!
You can just toss everything into one list, as they are all imperium units. The one caveat is that many abilities only work for specific factions. For example, Captain Tycho lets all Blood Angel models within 6” re-rolls 1s to hit. So that wouldn’t help a Dark Angels tac squad. So you can cherry pick the best units from each branch of the imperium, and they would all work well on their own, but you would miss out on a lot of synergy with different units/characters making everyone better then the sum of their parts.
As for which is better, we are still new to 8th, and that kind of efficiency is usually only noticeable in the very competitive scene, and play what you like works fine for most local store pick up games.
If you want to mix-and-match, I’d suggest picking something to form the core of your list, and then spice it up with special units from the other IoM factions. This gives you a solid base that works well together, with a few special hammers to deal with difficult nails.
As for what to buy, I’d suggest some razorback/rhinos, and some long range anti-tank fire. Lots of different ways to get that. But mobility is key to taking objectives, which is important, and most of your collection is close combat a/o short range, and mostly looks for be good at killing trooper looking things.

Thanks! I'm also wondering if It's useful to have a customized chapter because I like the idea but I cannot have any Hero like Dante or Corbulo giving bonus to my second founding chapter...Is there an existing chapter you would suggest alternatively to a custom one?

As long as you follow the rules, you should be OK with re-naming a named chapter. So if you follow the rules of the Blood Angels, only take things BA can take, and otherwise behave like the BA, I don’t care if you are painted in neon purple metallics and calling yourself the "Glitter Sparkle Rangers”. Just follow the rules, and be consistent. GW used to encourage you to file the names off the special characters and use them in your homebrew chapters.
Only the most hard-core WYSWYG guy is going to give you any flack. And someone operating at that level is probably going to have a host of other issues.
YMMV, but you should be fine.

Good. I read in the new index that Blood Angels successors could not include Blood Angels unique characters but maybe I don't remember correctly! Thank you

You are correct that the rules as written specifically say that the BA special characters can only be in a BA army. But I suspect that nobody will give you flack for changing the names/colors. YMMV, someone might make a stink over it, but I suspect nobody would.

Another doubt: if I have some Black templars in my army this means I cannot have psyonics at all? Or can I have psyonics of other chapters and create an army together with BT?

Just no Black Templar librarians. They might not like working with other imperial organization’s psychers, but they will.
