The only backseat my gaming group does is announce very poor ideas and tactics mid game.

The reason I bought rules and became a real wargamer was because I wanted a properly thought out structure to govern the action instead of just making things up as I went along.

I only ever comment on paint schemes and conversions. I only talk about an actual game in progress if I am fostering new players.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Are you running the event?

If no, then only interject when asked - otherwise, butt out.

This is how I feel about it, and if you really must tell them what you think, do it after the game is done and be prepared to get just a shrug as a reply.

I do not give tactical advise. To me that is rude, and a giant no-no in a tournament.

Generally I would say lingering over the table and opening your mouth for any reason is a no-no.

That said if I'm standing at the table next to you and hear some BS come out of your mouth expect to be corrected. I'm not going to stand over someone's shoulder and constantly correct them on every little thing or play ref.
However if they are either pulling something or explaining something obviously wrong I will correct them. Because yes like anything if you play it wrong a dozen times you're going to keep on playing it wrong until corrected.
If he's having to explain it to an opponent then the opponent obviously doesn't know, and if he's explaining it wrong I will interject.
