Oklahoma

I'm a new Ork player building an army. So far I've got
30 boys
3 boss nobs
1 ammo runt
1 pain boy
1 deff dread
1 wartrakk
3 warbikers
1 box of loota/ burnas

How should I build these and with what weapons for an army to advance quickly into melee?
How many trucks should I get? Or should I opt for the stormboyz route?

More boyz and get a weirdboy. Da jump gives you the potential for a 1st turn charge. Make some of the boyz kommandos. Due to their set up rules, they have the potential for a first turn charge as well. I run all mine with sluggas and choppas for the extra attack.

I would not invest in trucks ATM.

If you want to play competitively the goal seems to have more boyz than your opponent can deal with. All the other options are kinda sub par atm. Wait for the actual Ork codex for options to become more viable.

One piece of advice I always offer to newly minted Warbosses is that you don't have to choose with a Loota/Burna box. They have the same dimensions as regular Boyz and all you need to add is torsos and leg pieces to have four Lootaz, four Burnaz, and a Mek.

So far my wolves haven't really struggled against large mobz or dreads and kans.

Warboss in mega armour and meganobz were the most effective unit last game.

Big guns and shokk attack are both crap.

I would advice you to think one more time before you start orks, calculate the cost of buiyng 4 or 5 30-mobs and calculate the time spent on painting... Everything thatt looks like fun in the ork codex is pretty much crap at the moment,

I'd definitely grab a wierd boy for Da Jump,
some stormboyz
and Kommandos

Def-kopta bombz are fun!*
Skorchas are fun!* (auto hit, just need a turn or two to get in possition)
Kommandos popping up all over and charging is neat!*

*- fun, neat etc to me... your opinion and use may vary!

I think Mek Gunz (Kustom Mega kannons) are great at taking down enemy vehicles.

trukk boyz boxes are a pretty good deal and while I would nto buy them instead of boys 2-3 trukks is useful and the 20-30 boys only cost a few $ more

battlewagons are also very good with 20 boyz or 18-19 w/ warboss and/or painboy

dakkajet kit is nice and with magnetizing can be run as 3 different ork planes.

warboss and nobz on bikes are also great
