Subject: What is this 1987 Model? (Fantasy/40k?)

Recently I picked this guy up for a couple bucks at an antique store my girlfriend dragged me into. He was the only remotely interesting thing there haha. I only bought him because it was vintage GW, which is pretty cool to me. I've never owned a vintage model like this one (1987) and I didn't hesitate to buy! I was just wondering if any of you fine folks could tell me where I could possibly find it on an online catalogue, or maybe even a name (I think GW had names for the models they put out back then, probably not all of them, though.) He looks like he's from fantasy. I'm not sure if I even want to paint him up. I've never done a model like this except for one Asmodai that was kinda old, and he turned out pretty bad.
Edit: He has some weird ball/knob on the cuff of his left wrist. Would I be wrong to cut that off and file it? It looks a little wonky....

The bulge at his arm was used to attach a plastic shield. As for the miniature itself, there is a site which has all the oldskool miniatures. You can find it here;

If that is an antique, I am too

These shields would fit. I found just a random Ebay auction, to give you an idea.. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/24-X-1980S-CHAOS-FANTASY-PLASTIC-SHIELDS-CITADEL-WARHAMMER-/311905084256?hash=item489efde360:g:x4cAAOSwjk9ZUrpv
As for not finding it on Sol, did you check "Citadel" too? Iirc Citadel miniatures did the first miniatures for GW before it was the biggun it is now.

The shields had a hole in the centre which fitted over the knob on the arm. Examples here :
