Hey, pretty new to 40k, and with the new edition I wanted to get into it and Imperial guard sparked my interest due to their vehicles. I wanted to go for a "muddy" and "gritty" look for these tanks.

Any comments welcome!

You've got the right idea and with a bit of practise I'm sure you'll get awesome results.
For now I think you should be a little more subtle as some of the steaks are blatantly brush strokes
For a first attempt they look pretty good though

RIP Colour Sgt Kell. Forever in our hearts.

Yeah I've noticed that I need to use a finer brush for the smaller details along with the washes.

Thats some lovely mud.

I would love to see some guardsmen vading through it.

Thanks! I actually am painting some guardsmen up right now. I'll post some pics a little later. Im using forge world hostile environment bodies on my guardsmen to reflect that they come from a harsh mining planet where the air is barely breathable.

Here are some of my guardsmen. I'm going to paint their bases later:

Great mud, great infantry. How much of the former is going to get slapped on the latter?

Im going to apply some mud texture to their bases. I kinda kicked myself in the butt for putting the regular bases on first, then realized I could have bought some nice textured bases for them. Oh well.
