This was a super common unit in late 7th edition, but with all the changes with 8th, is entirely new!

What do you guys think is the best loadout now? Lascannons are always good, and with the missile launchers as well, these guys could take down pretty much anything - but at a crazy cost!
For cheap, Heavy Bolters and Hurrican Bolters kick out a pretty obscene number of shots. In rapid fire range, you're looking at 18 shots per model for a total of 44 shots from a 3 man unit.
What about Heavy Bolters and Missile Launchers? Could be a nice combo of cost, volume of fire, and high damage shots.
I don't really see a role for the Grav Cannons. They aren't bad, but I feel like for everything it does, there's another option that does it better.

I think the advantage of Centurion Devastor over other HS units in Marine is, aside of T5 2+ save infantry, they are one of the only three platforms that can fire heavy weapons on the move while not suffering the -1 penalty. So it is better to give them heavy weapons instead of Rapid fire weapons to ultilise this trait. And as marines you are having tons of bolters already as tax. In this view, I'd go missiles all the way in their chest.

Good points. You also probably don't want them close enough to rapid fire, although that or overwatch could be pretty nuts. What are your thoughts on the missile launchers, heavy bolters combo? 3d3, long range d3 damage shots and 18 s5 ap-1 shots per turn, at a fairly reasonable cost.

I was thinking of going with the same Ranged mix.

Missile Launcher/Heavy Bolters

Grave Cannon/Hurricane Bolters

Depends what you need them to do. If you want pure TAC, Hurricane/Lascannon seems like the best setup. You have the Hurricanes for mulching hordes and some semblance of an Overwatch that could be called acceptable. 6 Lascannon shots from the unit is nothing to sneeze at even for Imperial Knights either and should get them to around 50% HP (thus degrading) in 1.5 turns.

If you want pure anti-tank, no question Missile Launcher + Lascannon is the way to go.

I'm not sure Grav is worth it anymore, sadly.

Well....., for this issue, I am actually torn between Grav Cannon and Heavy Bolters, Grav Cannon definitely has the edge over Heavy Bolter (even 2 HB) in firepower due to having a wider spectrum of prefered targets. But Heavy Bolter have longer range and being cheaper. It is tough call, but I slightly prefer the Heavy Bolter, because they can stay at safe distance from enemy charging units, and enemy will have harder time "play hide and seek" around LOS blocking terrain against you.

Grav Cannon, despite being nerfed hard, is still great weapon in SM arsenal. It has a really wide spectrum of targets so can be classified as a great Take All Comer weapon.

Just.... Shame that the Centurion only move 4 inches and now there is no way to teleport them or Droppod them. So a 24 inch weapon will find some difficulties when mounted on them. Otherwise Centurion Devastors will be great weapon platform instead of being only "good" or merely "Ok" platform.

Last night I ran a unit of 3 las/missile centurions in a bunker against GKs. They killed an awful lot of stuff, and my opponent couldn't really do anything about them, as I'd bubble wrapped the bunker to prevent deep strikes. These guys can drop a dreadknight in a turn if things go well.

I think in future I'd run them in a bastion. 20 wounds and T9 is a significant improvement. You end up paying quite a bit for the bunker of course, but you can also put characters in there if you want. I had a techmarine with conversion beamer and my captain inside. That's a waste of the captain to be honest, so I'll find another place for him.

An interesting alternative to a fortification would be to have a mixed unit. You could have 6 guys, half with las/missile and the others with heavy bolters and hurricanes to tank incoming fire. It would be a hell of a lot of eggs in one basket though, and could still all go up in smoke if a shadowsword had a shot at them.

What about assault centurions? Those get lots of shots and can come with flamers too I think, plus the attack drills when they get attacked. Though I like the long range versions stuck in a bastion idea!

I'm really keen to put my assault cents on the table. Pack them into a landraider crusader with a chaplain or apothecary or captain, and another five man squad of your choosing (I'm going with plasma kitted sternguard.)
Expensive, I know, but it is a wrecking ball. The crusader can lay down a huge amount of dakka, before dropping a deadly package. If your cents have flamers, you can put out 6D6 hits, if meltaguns, you come out with enough shots to bust any tank. Follow that up with a couple of hits with the siege drills and you can ground any hard target to dust. Take hurricane bolters over the assault launchers. putting out 36 shots in rapid fire range will almost always be better than a mortal wound or two.

I wouldn't dismiss grav cannons quite yet. Against MEQ they are still wounding on 3+, and dealing multiple damage. And since they wound vehicles on 5s rather than 6s with D3 damage they might make for some decent AT shooting when in a pinch.
