So the dread army got me thinking and I now want to make a full-on Wraithlord Army. Is the Wraithseer still a thing in the FW indexes? If so is it a HQ choice with no restrictions? (last edition I think it had the restriction that either it can't be the warlord or you had to have a spiritseer with it).

I just bought my third Wraithlord because I love the model and WAS thinking this could work as well.

Here's the thing about Wraithlords though. If you give it flamers and 2 shuricannons, it costs just a couple points more than a basic Wave Serpent with 3 shuricannons. The Wave Serpent is faster, has 50% more firepower at long range, has 3 more hp (and they're all protected by that spiffy shield), has a decent selection of upgrade options, and has "fly" so it can't be locked in combat.

The Wraithlord, in exchange, is a little better at shooting <8", and does ok in close combat with multi-wound targets. It's still terrible against single wound squads, and can't disengage.

I wouldn't build an army around them.

Wraithseer is still, indeed, in the FW index and is an HQ choice.

Edit: it has its own psychic school to choose from and really specific weapon selection, but I don't recall any restrictions beyond that. It does have 10+ wounds so can be targeted as if not a character.

Everything but Wraithlords:

Pros: Point efficiency, variety of models, cheaper kits.

Cons: They are not Wraithlords.

Wraithlords:

Pros: It's a Wraithlord

Cons: Who cares, it's a Wraithlord.

Wraithlords (Eldar Dreadnoughts) are neat - I have three of them, including a silly Harlequin one --- however I feel like they're artificially crippled being 10 wounds and having the degradation table that a normal dreadnought doesn't have.

I haven't used one yet in 8th but I suspect that's a pretty big hindrance and they're not exactly cheap (and yes the Wave Serpent is pretty much always better...than almost anything in the Eldar force).

OMG! I just realized how dumb the WLs rules are.
I knew it was a bit 'meh', but the fact that it doesn't have a rule to leave combat and still shoot is really REALLY dumb.

Think about it. WKs and WG both have rule that allow them to fallback and shoot. The WK can even charge.
So why in the world does the WL not get a rule like this. I can understand why Wraithblades don't get a rule like this, because they WANT to be in melee.

So what do you guys think? If the WL could fallback and still shoot at its current points, then would it be worth it to take an all WL army?

Your logic is inescapably superior, sir. I concede the point.

To be fair, other similar models don't get that rule by default (Dreads can't, Fexes can't). Wraithknights can because it seems to be common to Lord of War sized war machines. Wraithguard can do it but I have no idea why (I just enjoy them doing it).

I just wanna do this for gak and giggles because since it's now possible to do an all-Dreadnought army and an all-carnifex army (led by old one eye), it'd be fun to get the other "Dread equivallents" in on the party. This means ofc the Deff Dreads too. Anyone know if they got something like a Deff Dread equivallent for the HQ in FW? Like a Mek Dred or something?

The biggest knock would be that unlike Dreadnoughts and Carnifexes, Wraithlords don't have access to any anti-horde weaponry.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

Double Flamer, Double Missile?

6+ = 6/36 | Reroll 1s = 7/36 | Reroll Misses = 11/36 ||||||| 5+ = 12/36 | Reroll 1s 14/36 | Reroll Misses = 20/36 ||||||| 4+ = 18/36 | Reroll 1s 21/36 | Reroll Misses = 27/36
3+ = 24/36 | Reroll 1s 28/36 | Reroll Misses = 32/36 ||||||| 2+ = 30/36 | Reroll 1s 35/36 ||||||| Highest of 2d6 = 4.47

Go ahead and try that. I have. It is bad.

There is a dredd-mob army list on forgeworld, including a HQ Kustom Meka-Dredd which is kinda awesome.

However I don't think this has been updated since 6th edition. Unfortunately. I want it updated so bad.

Two wraithseers and an even dozen double-flamer/glaive lords does sound amusing....

When someone smiles at me, all I see is a chimpanzee begging for its life.
