The idea for this list is basically to make the most out of the start collecting Skitarii boxes. Also, depending on the mission, the possibility to split the three troops choices into six groups of five to qualify for the Brigade Detachment and get a total of 12CP. The alpha/princeps special weapons are only used to get the list to 2000 exactly, so irrelevant for the purpose of evaluating the list.

Would like to know any weaknesses inherent in the list and also whether this list is stronger as a Battalion or a Brigade.

Kastelan Robots would do a lot for this list.

Dominus with Cawl is bad. 2 Dominus with Cawl is just terrible.
The elite choices are meh. Better go smith and kastelans

Need three HQ's to have a valid Brigade Detachment. AdMech only have Cawl and Tech-Priests available.

What about the elite choices is meh? I like the rules for the kastellans, but unfortunately the aesthetic of the models just doesn't appeal to me at all.

I made some easy alterations to my Kastellans (like just turning the head entirely around, for example) and I find they fit in with everything pretty well.
I would go with the battalion, and consider swapping some of the Rustalkers/Infiltrators for Electro-Priests. They're cheaper, and have similar survivability and damage output. With the save points you could add more vanguard, or Dragoons for objective grabbing. Otherwise it looks fine.

Yes, which is why brigade is a terrible choice for admech. Spear or battalion all the way.
Also units look ugly so you don't use them but you ask for list advice...
