Let's take a moment to talk about gravis armor. I know it's terminator equivalent for the primaris marines but rules wise it seems like a bike, that costs more, doesn't come with twin bolters and only offers a 5" move. When we compare it to terminators, it doesn't have deepstrike, can't take standard transports, no invuln and has minimal wargear options. Don't get me wrong I love the design and am using it for a techmarine bike stand-in. Also aggressors. But as a piece of marine warhgear it just seems lackluster. With the new toughness table it only gives a marine an advantage against s4-5 and s8. Odd numbers don't seem as powerful in this edition, and a 3+ isn't what it used to be. Thoughts?

Gravis armor basically seems to give +1 toughness but also lets you have access to weapons options. Interceptors have double heavy weapons - agressors have double power fists with double weapons. I agree it is underwhelming. I don't intend to use any of those models.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

Is it actually double power fists? i though the gauntlets are considered a single weapon and otherwise doesnt give you any other bonuses on top of a power fist. (besides built in weapons)

the only thing they get is the double shooting.

but that is a unit thing. otherwise would of been nice for a gravis captain to also double shoot.

To me it doesn't seem quite like primaris Terminator armour. More like a blend of Artificer armour and centurion armour. As an option it does leave me with much to be desired, but that's par for the course as far as primaris.

Question for those with a Codex: SM nearby: is a Primaris Apothecary able to get Gravis Armour in any way?

Zero options as far as the Primaris apothecary.

Thank you for the quick answer.

Going by the "no model, no rules" approach, I assume the Captain and Aggressors are the only units with Gravis Armour then?

Very little about the Primaris range is amazing. I believe that's as a result of a sense of caution on the part of the rules developers. If they had reverted to their old habit of giving the new hotness super duper new rules to boot, the community would have reverted to their traditional feral outrage at the stench of "new cheese."

I think they're playing it safe with the new rules for these models and banking on them selling based on their sculpts alone.

Pretty much this, they're - on the table - not supposed to be an upgrade to regular Marines, they're more of a "sidegrade" and quite possibly a downgrade in some instances. What it does to me is add versatility to my Marines, and pretty awesome kits to build and paint.

I really expected that the gravis armor is the armor for all Primaris marines and also thought that you can get a Primaris version for every standard marine. Quite dissappointing.

I tend to agree GW is playing safe, they want to avoid a reflexive "GW IS REPLACING OLD MARINES!" BACK LASH (And IMHO they largely have, you see some people saying it but they're a minority) had Primaris marines been the clearly superior choice people would likely have rejected them.

now that said Gravis armor is being used ion heavy support units. so it's not a terminator analogue, it's more, as has been noted, a Centurion analogue. I have a hunch that we'll eventually get a second wave of Primaris marines that will include their veterans.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two
