I'm awaiting the chaos codex, and I just wanted to check how much was changed in the SM codex - so I have a feel for what's in store. Did weapons and standard units stay the same price?

95% the same. A few small tweaks here and there.

Bikes dropped a few, powerfists dropped a few. Nothing game changing really.

Expect similar for Chaos.

Okay, thank you

Edit: so, largely a decrease in price. Fingers crossed for chaos.

Centurion Devastators got adjusted for being infantry with tons of big guns. They can be affected by the chapter traits which makes them very possibly OP in the right hands.

Just imagine trying to kill Raven Guard Centurion Devastators backed up by an apothecary, in cover, hidden behind a screen.

"Tables in 8th don't give cover!"

An aegis defense line is 75 points, gives the benefit of cover to any infantry model on or behind it, and you get to place it wherever you want as part of your deployment.

Wake. Rise. Destroy. Conquer.
We have done so once. We will do so again.

I guess thats true.

though Imperial Fists chapter tactics are 90% wasted on them

So can non-codex Marines use these values? (ie DA, BA, SW etc.)

No-one knows. GW have made contradictory statements.

My understanding is that for entries that are totally replaced by the codex (Such as Rhinos, Dreadnoughts, Predators etc) you use the codex, but for things that link back to the index (Such as Wolf Lord using the Captain Datasheet), you use the index, since there is no newer "Wolf Lord" entry anywhere.

As far as I'm concerned, use the new rules where you can, otehrwise revert to the index.

My BA force, which has no named characters anyway (I dislike fielding them), is is going to be performing as a C:SM generic marine force (with generic relics and no chapter tactics) alongside unique Blood Angels units.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Yep - you'll miss out on the specific stratagems and CT to come in the other books later on, but there isn't anything stopping you from making use of the SM book for other chapters. Of course, if you don't want to buy more than one book then waiting is probably a better idea.

Obviously once the BA book is released, I will of course use it and recalculate my points accordingly. For now using a friend's C:SM and the index.

Chaos Space Marine dedicated to Slaanesh

GW did address this on their community website. The solution seems pretty good for now.

"Blood Angels, Dark Angels and Space Wolves army lists in Index: Imperium 1 all let you use units from the Space Marines section of that book. If you own the new codex, you should feel free to use those same units’ Datasheets from that book instead, until your own codex comes out."

All of the info can be found here:

Cheers!

From that list we should expect our own fists and claws to be reduced (fists confirmed by GW today in the WE reveal). We can expect preds and vindicators to come down, bikes too but possibly not as much because we can buff them MUCH more with marks. Lord and sorcerer termies should come down in price too (but again we can buff lords much more and our sorcerers are better so don't expect the same necessarily). Big thing is that oblits and muties should down a ton. That'd be huge, because after legion traits and mark buffs these units may well be killer.
